Bachelard, Michael
Michael Bachelard (born 1968) is an Australian journalist and author. In 1997, Bachelard wrote ''The Great Land Grab: What every Australian should know about Wik, Mabo and the Ten Point Plan''. Bachelard's '' Behind the Exclusive Brethren'' was published in 2008, which explored the Australian sect of the Exclusive Brethren. For his work as the foreign editor at Fairfax Media, Bachelard was the co-recipient of the 2017 Gold Walkley. Fairfax Media was a media company in Australia and New Zealand, with investments in newspaper, magazines, radio and digital properties. The company was founded by John Fairfax as John Fairfax and Sons, who purchased ''The Sydney Morning Herald'' in 1841. Kate Geraghty (born 1972) is an Australian war photographer, and photojournalist for ''The Sydney Morning Herald'', and ''The Age'' and five time Walkley winner. Career Geraghty started photographing professionally at Albury-Wodonga's ''The Border Mail'' in 1997, and photographing sport was formative; on one occasion she counted twenty-seven of her own pictures in one Monday-morning edition, a large number of them pictures of local sporting competitions that typically required her on any Saturday to cover "half a quarter of an AFL match, driving 100 kilometres to make the second half of a hockey match ... you'd cover at least seven games in the one day."
