Toby Love is an American singer and songwriter. Love is known for performing a style of bachata music that combines traditional and urban singing and production. Background Toby Love was born in The Bronx, New York to Puerto Rican parents, his mother later remarried to a Dominican man, which eventually led to Toby Love's exposure to the genre of music known as Bachata. He started working with Aventura as a back-up singer. His voice was featured in 2 songs, I Believe and Gone in the album We Broke The Rules beginning a solo career with his 2006 LP, ''Toby Love'', released on Sony Records. In 2008, he received four nominations to the Billboard Latin Music Awards for songs included in his debut album. Bachata (music)
Bachata is a genre of music that originated in the Dominican Republic in the 20th century. It is a fusion of southwestern European influences, mainly Spanish guitar music, with indigenous Taino and Sub Saharan African musical elements, representative of the cultural diversity of the Dominican population. The first recorded compositions of bachata was done by José Manuel Calderón in 1962 ("Borracho de amor") from the Dominican Republic. Bachata originates from bolero and son (and later, from the mid-1980s, merengue). The original term used to name the genre was ''amargue'' ("bitterness", "bitter music" or "blues music"), until the mood-neutral term ''bachata'' became popular. History Sergio George was known for producing albums for salsa musicians during his work with RMM Records & Video during the 1990s. Following the purchase of RMM Records in 2001, George left the company to pursue his own independent record. The Tropical Airplay chart (formerly known as Tropical/Salsa and Tropical Songs) is a record chart published by ''Billboard'' magazine introduced in 1994. The first number-one song on the chart was " Quien Eres Tu" by Luis Enrique. Originally, rankings on the chart were determined by the amount of airplay a song received on radio stations that primarily played tropical music, namely music originating from the Spanish-speaking areas of the Caribbean such as salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, vallenato, and tropical fusions. Karim Kharbouch (Arabic: æɾiːm χɑɾbuːʃ born November 9, 1984), better known by his stage name French Montana, is a Moroccan-American rapper. Miguel Ángel Durán Jr. (born September 24, 1981) known by his stage name as Fuego ("fire"), is an American singer, songwriter and founder of Fireboy Inc./Sauce Gang. He is currently signed to Lionfish Entertainment. Early life Durán was born to Dominican parents in Washington, D.C. and was raised in Langley Park, Maryland.
