Babs (2017 Film)
''Babs'' is a BBC biopic about the life of British actress Dame Barbara Windsor. Details of the film were announced by Charlotte Moore, the BBC's Acting Director of Television, on 26 May 2016, a week after Windsor made her final appearance in '' EastEnders'' as the long-running character Peggy Mitchell. The film, written by ''EastEnders'' scriptwriter Tony Jordan, shows Windsor in the 1990s as she prepares to go on stage and recalls events from her life, including her childhood and marriage to gangster Ronnie Knight, as well as her rise to fame as part of the ''Carry On'' cast. It was broadcast on 7 May 2017, to coincide with Windsor's 80th birthday. Tony Jordan (born 21 July 1957) is a British television writer. He was listed as the number one television screenwriter in the United Kingdom by ''Broadcast'' magazine in 2008 and among British broadcasting's top twenty in ''The Stage'' in 2009. For many years, Jordan was lead writer and series consultant for BBC One soap opera ''EastEnders''. Jordan had written for the programme since 1989 including the 2008 single-hander " Pretty Baby...." and is considered to be an 'elder statesman' of the show, for which he has written over 250 episodes . ''Cor, Blimey!'' is a 2000 TV film that follows the relationship between ''Carry On'' film actors Sid James (played by Geoffrey Hutchings) and Barbara Windsor (played by Samantha Spiro). The film, first broadcast on ITV in April 2000, was adapted by Terry Johnson from his stage play ''Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick'' which debuted at the Royal National Theatre in 1998. Plot ''Cor, Blimey!'' starts with the arrival of Sid James's new wardrobe assistant on the set of ''Carry On Cleo'', at Pinewood Studios in 1963. Joan Littlewood
Joan Maud Littlewood (6 October 1914 – 20 September 2002) was an English theatre director who trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and is best known for her work in developing the Theatre Workshop. She has been called "The Mother of Modern Theatre". Her production of ''Oh, What a Lovely War!'' in 1963 was one of her more influential pieces. Nick Moran (born 23 December 1968 or 1969, sources differ) is an English actor and filmmaker, best known for his role as Eddie the card sharp in ''Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels''. ''Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick'' is a 1998 play written by the English dramatist Terry Johnson, who also directed the original production at the National Theatre. The play is about the off-screen love affair between ''Carry On'' film stalwarts, Barbara Windsor and Sid James. The comedy also portrays the filming of the "Carry On" series as a less than glamorous affair, characterised by leaking caravans, inadequate pay and argumentative co-stars. Most of the play's action takes place on rain-soaked locations with a scantily-clad Barbara taking refuge in Sid's trailer while he and co-star Kenneth Williams carry on their notorious feud, which began when they starred together in the TV series ''Hancock's Half Hour''.
