BaanoTV (TV Channel)
Baano TV ( fa, تلویزیون بانو ) was a commercial television station operated by Baano Media Group in Afghanistan. Launched in July 2017, it became one of the first terrestrial TV stations in the country dedicated to women. Baano TV was available in the Kabul, Parwan, Kapisa, Logar and Maidan Wardak provinces of Afghanistan, and they started their transmission in Mazar-e-sharif in August 2018. In September 2018, the channel also started their transmission on Al Yah Satellite Communications Al Yah Satellite Communications Company P.J.S.C. Standard-definition television (SDTV, SD, often shortened to standard definition) is a television system which uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. "Standard" refers to it being the prevailing specification for broadcast (and later, cable) television in the mid- to late-20th century, and compatible with legacy analog broadcast systems. The two common SDTV signal types are 576i, with 576 interlaced lines of resolution, derived from the European-developed PAL and SECAM systems, and 480i based on the American NTSC system. Women's rights in Afghanistan have oscillated back and forth depending on the time period. After King Amanullah Khan's attempts to modernize the country in the 1920s, women officially gained equality under the 1964 Constitution. However, these rights were taken away in the 1990s through different temporary rulers such as the mujahideen and the Taliban during the Afghan civil war. During the first Taliban regime (1996–2001), women had very little to no freedom, specifically in terms of civil liberties.
