The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) is an autonomous council for the Bodoland Territorial Region established under 6th Schedule of The Constitution of India according to the Memorandum of Settlement between Bodoland Liberation Tiger Force (BLTF) and Government of India and Government of Assam. The BTC has 40 elected members and an additional six members that are appointed by the Governor of Assam. The area under the BTC jurisdiction is officially called the Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD). The region falls within the geographical map of the least developed region in India. The agro-based economy is the only source of livelihood of the people. Industrialisation and other employment opportunities are scant. The Protected Tribal Belts and Blocks in Assam, India are certain regions which was regulated under Chapter 10 of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation Law, 1886 by the British Government as Belts and Blocks which was later on implemented by the Assam Government in 1947 by Gopinath Bardoloi, the first Chief Minister of Assam and subsequently by later Governments in power to protect the land rights of the aboriginal backward protected tribal classes (mentioned below) from immigrants in regions in which they were predominant at the time of creation (comprising 50% or more of the population) as they were primitive and largely backward. Autonomous Administrative Divisions Of India
The Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India allows for the formation of autonomous administrative divisions which have been given autonomy within their respective states. Most of these autonomous district councils are located in North East India with the exception of two in Ladakh and one in West Bengal. Tamulpur
Tamulpur district, was an administrative district in Bodoland Territorial Region of Assam, one of the North-Eastern states of India. The administrative headquartered at Tamulpur. In 2021, the Cabinet of Assam, headed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, approved the proposal to make Tamulpur a full-fledged district. On 23 January 2022 Tamulpur was formally created. Asom Gana Parishad (translation: ''Assam People's Council'', AGP) is a state political party in Assam, India. The AGP was formed after the historic Assam Accord of 1985 and formally launched at the Golaghat Convention held from 13–14 October 1985 in Golaghat, that let Prafulla Kumar Mahanta to be elected as the youngest chief minister of the state. Darrang
Darrang () is an administrative district in the state of Assam in India. The district headquarters are located at Mangaldoi. The district occupies an area of 1585 km2. History No definitive records about Darrang are available for the pre-medieval period. According to Maheswar Neog, the Darrang became mentioned only after the uprising of the king Nara Narayan. It perhaps formed a part of the ancient kingdom of Kamarupa and with its decline, Darrang at different times might have been under the rule of the Chutia Kingdom, Bodo people and Baro-Bhuyans. Kamrup Rural district, or simply Kamrup district (Pron: ˈkæmˌrəp or ˈkæmˌru:p), is an administrative district in the state of Assam in India formed by dividing the old Kamrup district into two in the year 2003; other being Kamrup Metropolitan district, named after the region it constitutes.
