BS BolticGöta
BS BolticGöta, or for short "BG", is a bandy club in Karlstad, Sweden. The two major bandy clubs in Karlstad, IF Boltic and IF Göta, was merged in the year 2000 and founded ''Föreningen Bandysällskapet BolticGöta Karlstad'', in a shorter form called ''BS BolticGöta''. Since 2008, the club uses the name IF Boltic again, even if the formal name stays the same. The club was relegated from the Swedish top division during the 2006–2007 season. Allsvenskan (bandy)
Allsvenskan (literally, "The All Swedish") ( sv, Allsvenskan i bandy) is since the 2007–08 the second highest level of bandy in Sweden and comprises 24 teams in two regional groups. This change was made when Allsvenskan and Elitserien were cancelled and a new top-tier called Elitserien was created. Structure During the first two years, Allsvenskan consisted of three groups with ten teams in each, i.e. a total of 30 teams. The groups were divided geographically, in Allsvenskan Norra (North), Allsvenskan Mellersta (Mid) and Allsvenskan Södra (South). For the third season, 2009–10, Allsvenskan was restructured into two groups, Norra and Södra, with 12 teams each, so there were only 24 teams left in total. This structure has so far (2014) been kept since then. Karlstad (, ) is the 20th-largest city in Sweden, the seat of Karlstad Municipality, the capital of Värmland County, and the largest city in the province Värmland in Sweden. Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. The international governing body for bandy is the Federation of International Bandy (FIB). The playing surface, called a bandy field or bandy rink, is a sheet of ice which measures 90–110 meters by 45–65 meters – about the size of a football pitch. IF Boltic
IF Boltic was a Swedish sports club from the town Karlstad. It existed from 1946 to 2000. In 2000, IF Boltic was merged with IF Göta and formed the new club BS BolticGöta. IF Boltic was for a number of years the most successful bandy team in Sweden and also one of the best in the world. IF Boltic is to date the only club which has managed to become Swedish champion for both men and women the same year. After the 2007/08 season the name IF Boltic is used again for the new club, but the formal name of the new club is still BS BolticGöta. Men's team IF Boltic was founded in 1946 in Herrhagen in Karlstad. Originally, the club did not only play bandy, but had also sections for handball and association football. IF Göta
IF Göta is a sports club in Karlstad, Sweden, founded in 1904. The club used to have a successful team in bandy, becoming Swedish champions six times, but now is only concentrated on athletics.
