BSV Bad Bleiberg was an Austrian association football club based in Bad Bleiberg, Carinthia. It was founded in 1952 and became ''BSV Villach Juniors'' and moved to Villach in 2003 as a joint-venture with FC Kärnten. The club dissolved in 2004. Football is the most popular sport in Austria. The Austrian Football Association, the ''ÖFB'' (''Österreichischer Fußball-Bund''), was founded in 1904 and has been a member of FIFA since then. Despite the sport's popularity, except for a successful streak in the early 1930s, the country's national team has not been successful in tournaments. Austria played their first ever European championship as a qualifier in 2016, but finished last in their group and failed to advance. Their only prior appearance in the European championship was in 2008 (when it co-hosted the championship with Switzerland and was thus exempt from qualification), but was promptly eliminated already at the group stage. Bad Bleiberg
Bad Bleiberg ( sl, Plajberk pri Beljaku) is a market town in the district of Villach-Land, in Carinthia, Austria. Originally a mining area, especially for lead (german: Blei), Bad Bleiberg today due to its hot springs is a spa town. Geography Bad Bleiberg is situated west of the district's capital Villach in a high valley on the northern slope of the Dobratsch (''Villacher Alpe'') massif, the easternmost part of the Gailtal Alps mountain range. The municipal area comprises the cadastral communities of Bleiberg proper and Kreuth. Villach (; sl, Beljak; it, Villaco; fur, Vilac) is the seventh-largest city in Austria and the second-largest in the federal state of Carinthia. FC Kärnten was an Austrian association football club based in Klagenfurt, Carinthia. It was founded in 1920 under the name of KSK Klagenfurt. History Austria Klagenfurt Austria Klagenfurt played successfully in the ''Kärntner Liga'' and in 1960 were promoted to the Austrian Regional League Central where they won the 1961–62 championship.
