BRP Rizal (PS-74)
The BRP ''Rizal'' (PS-74) was the lead ship and first of two Rizal class corvette, ''Rizal'' class ships in service with the Philippine Navy. She was an ex-USN Auk class minesweeper, ''Auk'' class minesweeper (ship), minesweeper that was produced during World War II, and was classified as a patrol corvette protecting the vast waters of the Philippines. Along with other ex-World War II veteran ships of the Philippine Navy, she was considered one of the oldest active fighting ships in the world, until 2020. A corvette is a small warship. It is traditionally the smallest class of vessel considered to be a proper (or " rated") warship. USS ''Howard'' (DDG-83) is an in the United States Navy. She is named for Medal of Honor recipient First Sergeant Jimmie E. Howard, USMC. This ship is the 33rd destroyer of her class. BRP ''Pangasinan'' (PS-31) was a of the Philippine Navy. She was originally built as USS ''PCE-891'', a for the United States Navy during World War II. She was decommissioned from the U.S. Navy and transferred to the Philippine Navy in July 1948 and renamed RPS ''Pangasinan'' (E-31). Along with other World War II-era ships of the Philippine Navy, ''Pangasinan'' was considered one of the oldest active fighting ships in the world, up until its decommissioning on March 1, 2021 after 72 years of service. A depth charge is an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) weapon. It is intended to destroy a submarine by being dropped into the water nearby and detonating, subjecting the target to a powerful and destructive Shock factor, hydraulic shock. An auk or alcid is a bird of the family Alcidae in the order Charadriiformes. The alcid family includes the murres, guillemots, auklets, puffins, and murrelets.
