BR-Radltour
The BR-Radltour is an annual bicycle tour for recreational bicycle riders that was established in 1990. It is organized by the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation (Bayerischer Rundfunk). The inventor of the BR-Radltour, Thomas Gaitanides retired in 2013 after his 23rd tour. Normally the BR-Radltour has six leads through the Bavarian countryside. It is no competition but an event for people who prefer healthy sport and the community spirit with fellow cyclists. The BR-Radltour is supposed to be the largest bicycling event in Germany. This is only accurate for the number of participants for the whole tour, which is mostly between 1,000 and 1,300. Bicycle tours that also allow one-day participants might have several thousand more. Bayerischer Rundfunk
Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR; "Bavarian Broadcasting") is a public-service radio and television broadcaster, based in Munich, capital city of the Free State of Bavaria in Germany. BR is a member organization of the ARD consortium of public broadcasters in Germany. History Bayerischer Rundfunk was founded in Munich in 1922 as Deutsche Stunde in Bayern. It aired its first program on 30 March 1924. The first broadcasts consisted mainly of time announcements, news, weather and stock market reports, and music. Programming expanded to include radio plays, concerts, programs for women, language courses, chess, opera, radio, news, and Catholic and Protestant morning services. Thomas Gaitanides
Thomas Gaitanides (born 1948) is a German radio journalist. Gaitanides started his career in the 1970s at the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation ( Bayerischer Rundfunk) in the newly established service channel Bayern 3. At the beginning he moderated the programme for drivers, ''Gute Fahrt''. Later he worked for other programmes like ''B3-Kurier'', ''Radio-Report'' or ''Samstagsclub''. In 2008 Gaitanides became chief editor of the new digital channel ''Bayern plus''. Here he was responsible for the daily programme ''Das Magazin''.
