Femke Boelen
Femke Boelen (born 5 May 1968) is a retired Dutch rower. In 1994, she won a world title in the coxless fours and finished in fourth place in the coxed eights. Next year she won a bronze medal in the coxed eights; she finished in sixth place in this event at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Boelen retired from competitions in 1997 and worked as a coach at her rowing club Willem III in Amsterdam. Henricus Boelen
Henricus Boelen II (May 5, 1697 - August 27, 1755) was a noted American silversmith active in New York City. Boelen was born in New York City, the son and apprentice of Dutch immigrant silversmith, Jacob Boelen I, who willed his business to Henricus in 1729. He became a freeman in 1718, married Jannetje Waldron on June 19, 1718, and served as master to his own son, Jacob Boelen II, around 1746. Herman Boelen
Herman Boelen (born 12 May 1939) is a retired Dutch rower. He competed at the 1964 Summer Olympics in the coxless fours, together with Jim Enters, Sipke Castelein and Sjoerd Wartena, and finished in fourth place. He won a European bronze in the coxless pairs with Enters in 1963. Boelen's daughter Femke is also an Olympic rower. After retiring from competitions he worked as a rowing coach with the national junior team and as the chairman of his rowing club Willem III in Amsterdam. Jacob Boelen
Jacob Boelen (c. 1657 – April 4, 1729) was an early American silversmith, active in New York City. He was father to silversmith Henricus Boelen. Boelen was born in Amsterdam, and brought to New York with his family in 1659. In 1676 he was admitted to the Dutch Church, and married Katharina Klock on May 21, 1679. He became a freeman in 1698, and served as alderman of the North Ward from 1695 to 1701. In 1702 he also served as a juror in the trial of Colonel Nicholas Bayard for high treason. Jan Boelen
Jan Boelen (born 1967 in Genk, Belgium) is a curator of design, architecture and contemporary art. He studied Product Design at the Media & Design Academy in Genk, and he is the founder and former artistic director of Z33 – house for contemporary art in Hasselt, Belgium. Boelen was the head of the Masters program in "Social Design" and the Masters program in "Design Curating and Writing" at the Design Academy Eindhoven, Netherlands; he is a member of the Flemish Committee for Architecture and Design. Boelen developed the idea of a European Design Parliament as a driving force for change, and he curated the international design festival BIO 50 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, the oldest design biennial in Europe.
