BM College
Govt. Brojomohun College, Barisal (also BM College) is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Bangladesh. It is located in the city of Barisal in south-western Bangladesh. History On June 14, 1889, Aswini Kumar Dutta founded Brojo Mohan College, which was named after his father, Brajamohan Dutta. The first principal of the college was Babu Gyan Chandra Chowdhury. While Ashwini Kumar Dutta taught English and logic, Kali Prasanna Ghosh taught history and Kamini Kumar BidyaRatna taught Sanskrit and Bengali. In 1898, BM College was transformed into a "First Grade College" from a "Second Grade College". In 1912, the college went to government management from personal management strategy. Abdul Wahab Khan (politician)
Abdul Wahab Khan ( bn, আব্দুল ওহাব খান; 18 April 1898 – 12 July 1972) was the 3rd speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan. He is the grandfather of Salman Khan, founder of the Khan Academy. Early life and family Khan was born on 18 April 1898 to a middle-class Bengali Muslim family of Khans in the village of Rahmatpur in Babuganj, Backergunge District, Bengal Presidency. The village was named after his ancestor, Rahmat Khan, an Afghan migrant who was killed in conflict with Raja Kandarpanarayan Rai of Chandradwip in the 16th century. His father, Sadat Ali Khan, was a '' moulvi''. Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder
Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder (born 29 March 1935) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician, former chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and Pubali Bank Limited, businessman, and a member of parliament. Mizanur Rahman Khan
Mizanur Rahman Khan (October 1967 – 11 January 2021) was a Bangladeshi journalist. Life He was born in October 1967, in Nalchiti, Jhalokathi, and died of COVID-19-related complications in Dhaka in January 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh in January 2021. Ahsan Habib
Ahsan Habib (2 January 1917 – 10 July 1985) was a Bangladeshi poet and literary figure in Bengali culture. He was born in the village of Shankarpasha, in Pirojpur. Before the India-Pakistan partition, he worked on several literary magazines: ''Takbir'', ''Bulbul'' (1937–38) and ''The Saogat'' (1939-43) and he was a staff artiste at the Kolkata Centre of All India Radio. Narayan Gangopadhyay
Narayan Gangopadhyay (4 February 1918 – 8 November 1970), also known as Narayan Ganguly, was an Indian novelist, poet, essayist, and short story writer, and one of the leading writers of modern Bengali literature. He introduced the endearing character of Tenida in his famous stories of Children's literature. He took up "Narayan" as his pen name. He married his brother in law's niece Renuka Devi, with whom he had his only daughter Basabi(Bani). His wife Renuka Ganguly and daughter Basabi Roy Chowdhury were also eminent writers and teachers. Promode Dasgupta (13 July 1910 – 29 November 1982) was an Indian Communist politician from West Bengal, often referred to as PDG. He was the first leader of the West Bengal unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), serving as State Secretary from the party's birth in 1964 until his death in 1982. He was also a member of the CPI(M)'s politburo, its supreme decision-making body. Although he personally never contested an election, Dasgupta earned a reputation as a disciplined organiser of the party and its cadres. Altaf Mahmud
Altaf Mahmud ( bn, আলতাফ মাহমুদ; 23 December 1933 – September 1971) was a musician, cultural activist, and martyred freedom fighter of the Bangladesh Liberation War. He was also a language activist of the Language Movement and composer of "Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano", the famous song written to commemorate the event. Moazzem Hossain
Moazzem Hossain was a Pakistan Navy Lieutenant Commander and an accused of the Agartala Conspiracy Case. He was killed by the Pakistan Army during Bangladesh Liberation war.
