BMC J2
The Morris J2 was a small, forward-control van (driver's cab on top of the engine) launched by Morris-Commercial in 1956 and produced until 1967. It was offered with the familiar B-series petrol engine, initially in form, but this was subsequently enlarged to . Until 1961, the van was sold alongside the relatively old-fashioned and slightly smaller Morris JB-type. Morris Commercial Cars Limited was a British manufacturer of commercial vehicles formed by William Morris, 1st Viscount Nuffield, William Morris, founder of Morris Motors, Morris Motors Limited, to continue the business of E G Wrigley and Company which he purchased as of 1 January 1924. The marque was re-launched in 2017 when a proposal for all-new electric J-Type was announced, which was unveiled in November 2019. Morris 250 JU
The Morris 250 JU (also available, initially, badged as the Austin 250 JU) was a forward control (driver's cab on top of the engine) light van launched by Morris Commercial in October 1967. It was offered with the familiar B series petrol engine in form. Claimed power output was 49 bhp, with a compression ratio of 7.2:1. The 250 JU replaced the Morris Commercial J2 and with the merging of the Standard, it also replaced the Standard Atlas. The van was rated on a gross-weight basis rather than on the more familiar (for UK buyers at the time) load carrying capability. The number '250' in its name was intended to indicate a gross loaded weight of 2½ long (British) tons, implying a substantial carrying capacity of 22 cwt. When road tested by Britain's '' Autocar'' magazine, a 250 JU vehicle converted into a motor home achieved a maximum speed of 58 mph (93 km/h). Morris Commercial J-type
The Morris Commercial J-type is a 10 cwt (0.5 ton) van launched by Morris Commercial in 1949 and produced until 1961. After the formation of the British Motor Corporation in 1952, by the merger of Morris' parent company, the Nuffield Organization, and Austin, the Commercial name was dropped and the van was marketed as the Morris J-type. The van followed the emerging trend of having forward controls and sliding doors on each side. It was made in both left and right hand drive versions. As well as complete vehicles, the J-type was also supplied in chassis form to external body makers and it appeared, amongst other uses, as a pick-up, tipper truck, ice cream van and milk float. Many were bought by the British Post Office and these differed from standard in having rubber front and rear wings. Vans is an American manufacturer of skateboarding shoes and related apparel, established in Anaheim, California, and owned by VF Corporation.
