BK Opava
BK Opava is a Czech professional basketball club based in the historical city of Opava. The club was founded in 1945 and currently plays in the NBL. The club has won the Czech National Basketball League four times – most recently in the 2002–03 season. It also has won six Czech Cup titles, the most recent one being in 2022. The club plays its home games at the Hala Opava, which has a capacity of 3,006 people. History Opava had its glory years in the 00s, as the team won the Czech championship in 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2003. The team also won five Czech Cup titles, including three straight from 1997 until 1999. In the 2017–18 season, Opava reached the finals of the NBL season. The Czech Republic National Basketball League (NBL) ( cs, Národní Basketbalová Liga) is the top-tier level professional basketball league in the Czech Republic. It is run by the Asociace Ligových Klubů. The league operates under a promotion and relegation system. The bottom two NBL teams from each season's standings are relegated to the 2nd-tier level 1. The Czech Basketball Cup is the annual top-tier level national basketball cup competition that is held in the Czech Republic, for professional teams. 2018–19 Basketball Champions League
The 2018–19 Basketball Champions League was the third season of the Basketball Champions League (BCL), a European-wide professional basketball competition for clubs, that was launched by FIBA. The competition began in September 2018, with the qualifying rounds, and concluded in May 2019. It featured 19 domestic champions including two from France and Italy. The Final Four was held in the Sportpaleis in Antwerp on 3 and 5 May 2019. Virtus Bologna won its first BCL championship. As such, the team qualified for the 2020 FIBA Intercontinental Cup. The 2017–18 National Basketball League (Czech Republic) season is the 25th season of the Czech NBL. Format Teams in regular season play home and away against every other team in a round-robin tournament, before being split into two groups of six teams for playing again home and away against the teams from the same group. After the end of the stage after the first split, the six teams from to top group and the two first qualified teams from the bottom group joined the play-offs. The other four teams would play again home and away against themselves for avoiding the relegation.
