BG Göttingen
Basketballgemeinschaft Göttingen ( eng, Basketball Association Göttingen) is a German basketball club based in Göttingen, Germany. In 2010, the club won the EuroChallenge against Krasnye Krylya Samara from Russia. The team had played in Germany's second division nearly every season since its foundation up to the 2006–07 season, in which Göttingen played in the Basketball Bundesliga. History When the club BG 74 Göttingen promoted to the Basketball Bundesliga in 2007, the professional team was separated from the club. In its first Bundesliga season, Göttingen managed to avoid relegation. In the following years the club would have some excellent performances, with consecutive playoff appearances. In the 2009–10 season, Göttingen made its debut in Europe by playing in the EuroChallenge. The team immediately made its mark as it won the competition after having a 13–3 record overall. Basketball Bundesliga
The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) (English language: ''Federal Basketball League''), for sponsorship reasons named easyCredit BBL, is the highest level league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 18 teams. A BBL season is split into a league stage and a playoff stage. At the end of the league stage, the top eight teams qualify for the playoff stage, and the teams positioned in the 17th and 18th places are relegated to a lower-tier league. The playoffs are played in a "Best of five" format. The winning team of the final round are crowned the German Champions of that season. In addition to the league competition, all BBL teams compete for the German Basketball Cup. Teams playing in the second league (ProA or ProB), or in a lower level Regionalliga, are also eligible to participate in the BBL-Cup. James Dickey (basketball, Born 1996)
James L. Dickey III (born November 28, 1996) is an American basketball player who plays the power forward and center positions. He plays for Prometey of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League. He played college basketball for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with whom he was the 2017–18 Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year. During his college career he led the Southern Conference once in rebounds, and twice in blocked shots. Early life Dickey is the son of James Dickey Jr. and Joanne Jeffreys. Basketball Bundesliga-Pokal, commonly known as the BBL-Pokal, is the annual national basketball cup competition in Germany. Since 2009, the title has been awarded to the winner of a tournament competition between top clubs of each Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) season. History and format The competition was founded in 1966, by the German Basketball Federation. The first final of the German Basketball Cup took place on 11 June 1967, in Oberhausen. Since 1993, the cup championship is decided in a final four format, which is held over one weekend. The host team of the cup's final four, is automatically set as one of the participants. Nicholas Livas (Greek: Νίκος Λίβας; born April 27, 1987) is a Greek-American professional basketball player. He is 1.98 m tall. He plays the small forward position. Professional career Livas started playing basketball in US where he stayed until the end of the 2008–09 season.
