Backward Differentiation Formula
The backward differentiation formula (BDF) is a family of implicit methods for the numerical integration of ordinary differential equations. They are linear multistep methods that, for a given function and time, approximate the derivative of that function using information from already computed time points, thereby increasing the accuracy of the approximation. These methods are especially used for the solution of stiff differential equations. The methods were first introduced by Charles F. Curtiss and Joseph O. Hirschfelder in 1952.Curtiss, C. F., & Hirschfelder, J. O. (1952). Integration of stiff equations. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 38(3), 235-243. In 1967 the field was formalized by C. William Gear in a seminal paper based on his earlier unpublished work. General formula A BDF is used to solve the initial value problem : y' = f(t,y), \quad y(t_0) = y_0. The general formula for a BDF can be written as : \sum_^s a_k y_ = h \beta f(t_, y_), where ...

Bund Deutscher Frauenvereine
The Bund Deutscher Frauenvereine (Federation of German Women's Associations) (BDF) was founded on 28/29 March 1894 as umbrella organization of the women's civil rights feminist movement and existed until the Nazi seizure of power in 1933. Its creation was inspired by the founding of the World's Congress of Representative Women meeting on the occasion of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Several women from Germany attended this event: Anna Simson, Hanna Bieber-Böhm, Auguste Förster, Käthe Schirmacher. They took the example of the American National Council of Women as a model for the BDF. The International Council of Women also played a role in strengthening the co-operation between the NCW and the BDF. Governance The first board was composed of: * Auguste Schmidt * Anna Schepeler-Lette, Chairperson of the Latvian Club * Anna Simson * Hanna Bieber-Böhm as chairwoman of the association for the protection of minors Representative of the morality movement * ...

Bangladesh Forces
The Mukti Bahini ( bn, মুক্তিবাহিনী, translates as 'freedom fighters', or liberation army), also known as the Bangladesh Forces, was the guerrilla resistance movement consisting of the Bangladeshi military, paramilitary and civilians during the War of Liberation that transformed East Pakistan into Bangladesh in 1971. They were initially called the Mukti Fauj. On 7 March 1971 Sheikh Mujibur Rahman issued a call to the people of East Pakistan to prepare themselves for an all-out struggle. Later that evening resistance demonstrations began, and the military began a full-scale retaliation with Operation Searchlight, which continued through May 1971. A formal military leadership of the resistance was created in April 1971 under the Provisional Government of Bangladesh. The military council was headed by General M. A. G. Osmani''Unconventional Warfare in South Asia: Shadow Warriors and Counterinsurgency'', Gates and Roy, Routledge, 2016 and eleven sector comm ...

Glyph Bitmap Distribution Format
The Glyph Bitmap Distribution Format (BDF) by Adobe is a file format for storing bitmap fonts. The content takes the form of a text file intended to be human- and computer-readable. BDF is typically used in Unix X Window environments. It has largely been replaced by the PCF font format which is somewhat more efficient, and by scalable fonts such as OpenType and TrueType fonts. Overview the current version of BDF is 2.2. No future revisions are anticipated. Earlier versions were referred to as the Character Bitmap Distribution Format. In 1988, the X Consortium adopted BDF 2.1 as a standard for X Window screen fonts, but X Windows has largely moved to other font standards such as PCF, Opentype, and Truetype. Version 2.2 added support for non-Western writing. For example, glyphs in a BDF 2.2 font definition can specify rendering from top-to-bottom rather than simply left-to-right. A BDF font file contains three sections: #a global section that applies to all glyphs in a font ...

PCI BDF
PCI configuration space is the underlying way that the Conventional PCI, PCI-X and PCI Express perform auto configuration of the cards inserted into their bus. Overview PCI devices have a set of registers referred to as ''configuration space'' and PCI Express introduces ''extended configuration space'' for devices. Configuration space registers are mapped to memory locations. Device drivers and diagnostic software must have access to the configuration space, and operating systems typically use APIs to allow access to device configuration space. When the operating system does not have access methods defined or APIs for memory mapped configuration space requests, the driver or diagnostic software has the burden to access the configuration space in a manner that is compatible with the operating system's underlying access rules. In all systems, device drivers are encouraged to use APIs provided by the operating system to access the configuration space of the device. Technical inf ...

Bois-des-Filion
Bois-des-Filion is an off-island suburb of Montreal, located in Quebec, Canada, to the north of Montreal. Historically, hundreds of families annually travelled to this region seasonally to experience the magnificent maple forests; however the tourist industry is currently a minor source of income for the city. The primary language spoken by its citizens is French, and the primary source of employment is general manufacturing. Origin of the name The name ''Filion'' is derived from the surname of Antoine Feuillon, a local carpenter who could neither read nor write, and thus was unable to correct any errors in the spelling of his name as the first records were kept. Antoine Feuillion was the son of Michel Feuillon, a captain of the Musketeers of the Guards during the reign of the "Sun King", Louis XIV of France before his immigration to New France. This town is named ''Bois'' des Filion because of the beautiful maple woods bordering it; ''le bois'' being French for "the wood ...

Ballroom Dancers' Federation
The Ballroom Dancers' Federation was founded in 1958 to give a voice to competitive ballroom dancers. A previous organisation, called the Competitors' Federation had been disbanded soon after its formation in 1946. The purpose of the BDF is: :1. To promote the spirit of good fellowship and sportsmanship and to protect and advance the interests of professional competitors and professionals in general. :2. To further the goodwill and co-operation between those who utilise the services of its members and the governing Dance Sport bodies. These general aims are interpreted mainly from the point of view of professional competitors, though many of its activities do also benefit amateur competitors. The Federation has been responsible for starting many events: *The International Congress held biennially at the British Open Championships in Blackpool, where lectures on all aspects of the profession are presented. *The Night of 100 Stars, which is the showcase for the Dance Sport industry. ...

Board Foot
The board foot or board-foot is a unit of measurement for the volume of lumber in the United States and Canada. It equals the volume of a length of a board, one foot wide and thick. Board foot can be abbreviated as FBM (for "foot, board measure"), BDFT, or BF. A thousand board feet can be abbreviated as MFBM, MBFT, or MBF. Similarly, a million board feet can be abbreviated as MMFBM, MMBFT, or MMBF. Until 1970s in Australia and New Zealand the terms super foot and superficial foot were used with the same meaning. One board foot equals: * 1 ft × 1 ft × 1 in * 12 in × 12 in × 1 in * 144 in3 * 1/12 ft3 * ≈ * ≈ * ≈ or steres * 1/1980 Petrograd Standard of board The board foot is used to measure rough lumber (before drying and planing with no adjustments) or planed/surfaced lumber. An example of planed lumber is softwood 2 × 4 lumber sold by large lumber retailers. The 2 × 4 is actually only , but the dimensions for the lumber when purchased wholesal ...
