BBC Janala
BBC Janala ( bn, বিবিসি জানালা; en, BBC Window) is an English–instruction programme for the people of Bangladesh. It launched in November 2009 and is a multi-platform project of UKAID. The Janala includes mobile subscription, television drama and game show and lessons in leading national daily of Bangladesh. Aim BBC Janala, a supported program of English in Action, a BBC World Service Trust project, takes it a notch higher with the ambition to raise the English language skills of 27 million Bangladeshis by 2017. By tapping into the growth of Bangladesh’s mobile phone and television industry, BBC Janala is offering affordable English learning tools to millions of people, helping them with the chance of a better job and future. The BBC World Service is an international broadcasting, international broadcaster owned and operated by the BBC, with funding from the Government of the United Kingdom, British Government through the Foreign Secretary, Foreign Secretary's office. BBC Media Action, formerly known as the BBC World Service Trust, is the BBC's international development charity, funded independently by external grants and voluntary contributions. The purpose of the organisation is to use media and communication to reduce poverty, improve health and support people in understanding their rights. BBC Bangla ( bn, বিবিসি বাংলা) is a Bengali language service of the BBC World Service. History BBC Bangla was launched on 11 October 1941 with a 15-minute programme under the BBC World Service. BBC Bangla's headquarters used to be Bush House, but, since 2012, it has been broadcast from Broadcasting House in London as well as from BBC bureaux in Dhaka and Kolkata. In September 2022, BBC Bangla announced its cessation of radio broadcasts due to financial reasons. On 30 September 2022, the BBC decided to stop radio broadcasting in ten languages, including Bengali. The Green Book (BBC)
The BBC Variety Programmes Policy Guide For Writers and Producers, commonly referred to as The Green Book, is a booklet of guidelines, issued by the British Broadcasting Corporation in 1949, to the producers and writers of its comedy programmes. It detailed what was then permissible as comedy material, but its bureaucratic tone and outlandish strictures caused great amusement in the comedy world at the time. Most of its content is now completely out of date. It was a confidential document and was kept under lock and key. The executive responsible for its release was the then Head of Variety, Michael Standing, although it contained a large amount of material which had been previously issued, in the preceding years, in memo form.
