BAIC BJ20
The BAIC BJ20 is a compact CUV produced by BAIC Motor since 2015. In 2020, it was renamed to Beijing BJ30. Overview Introduced as the BAIC BJ20 concept car at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show and previously the Beijing Auto Concept 500 that debuted on the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2013, the BAIC BJ20 production model was launched in August 2016, with the final production version of the Beijing Auto BJ20 debuting on the 2016 Chengdu Auto Show in China. The BAIC BJ20 is based on the same platform as the Senova X65, and is powered by a Mitsubishi-sourced ‘4A91T’ 1.5 liter turbo engine producing 147hp and 210nm. The only transmission offered is a six-speed manual gearbox and only front-wheel-drive is available. Pricing for the BJ20 starts at 96,800 yuan and ends at 139,800 yuan ($14.300 – 20.600). BAIC Motor
BAIC Motor Corporation Limited is a Chinese automaker headquartered in Beijing. The H shares (foreigner share in offshore market) of the company were traded in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. It was part of BAIC Group, itself a subsidiary of Beijing Municipal Government. History BAIC Motor was incorporated in 2010 as a sub-holding company of BAIC Group. It became a listed company in December 2014. Continuously Variable Transmission
A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is an automatic transmission that can change seamlessly through a continuous range of gear ratios. The Toyota FJ Cruiser is a retro-styled mid-size SUV produced by Toyota since 2006. Introduced as a concept car at the January 2003 North American International Auto Show, the FJ Cruiser was approved for production after positive consumer response and debuted at the January 2005 North American International Auto Show in final production form. The FJ Cruiser is built by Toyota subsidiary Hino Motors in Hamura, Japan since 2006 and shares many structural underpinnings with the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. The FJ Cruiser entered the Japanese market on 4 December 2010, announced on 25 November in that year. A concept car (also known as a concept vehicle, show vehicle or prototype) is a car made to showcase new styling and/or new technology. They are often exhibited at motor shows to gauge customer reaction to new and radical designs which may or may not be mass-produced. General Motors designer Harley Earl is generally credited with inventing the concept car, and did much to popularize it through its traveling Motorama shows of the 1950s. Concept cars never go into production directly. In modern times all would have to undergo many changes before the design is finalized for the sake of practicality, safety, regulatory compliance, and cost.
