B. Jaya (actress)
Basappa Jaya (3 September 1944 – 3 June 2021), commonly known as B. Jaya, was an Indian actress, known for her work in Kannada cinema. She acted in over 200 films. For her performance in the movie ''Gowdru'', Jaya won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2004-05. Biography Jaya has her roots in Kollegal, a town in the present-day Chamarajanagar district of India's Karnataka State. She was the fourth of seven children to Mahadevamma and Basappa. Father Basappa was a stage artist who went to appear in over 100 films. Jaya followed her father into stage and subsequently into films. Beginning in the 1950s, she went to work on stage till 1992. She made her film debut as a child actress in '' Bhakta Prahlada'' (1958). Jaya has won awards for the films ''Prathigne'', ''Bettada Huli'', ,''Nyayave Devaru'' and ''Gowdru'', the last of which was from the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. Kollegal
Kollegal is one of the major taluks in the Chamarajanagara District of Karnataka State in the south of India. It is also the largest taluk in Karnataka, Kollegal is well known for its silk industry which attracts traders from all over the state. History Until 1956, Kollegal was part of the Coimbatore district of the Madras Presidency. The States Reorganisation Act of 1956 moved Kollegal to Karnataka primarily organising it along linguistic lines. Kollegal is the name derived from the names of two hermits namely 'Kauhala' and 'Galava' who were believed to be instrumental in the development of Kollegal. ''Belli Moda'' () is a 1967 Kannada-language film directed by Puttanna Kanagal. It was based on the novel of same name by Triveni. Kanagal remade the movie in Malayalam in 1967 as '' Swapnabhoomi'' and in Telugu in 1968 as ''Palamanasulu''. This was the first Kannada movie to be shot completely outdoors. Plot Indira (played by Kalpana) is the heiress of her father's estate, named "Belli Moda". A young man, Mohan (Kalyan Kumar) visits the estate to meet Indira's father (K. S. Ashwath) and petition for a financial scholarship from their club for his higher studies in the USA. ''Premamayi'' is a 1966 Indian Kannada-language film, directed by M. R. Vittal and produced by Srikanth Nahatha and Srikanth Patel. The film stars Rajkumar, K. S. Ashwath, Leelavathi and Jayanthi. The film has musical score by R. Sudarshanam. This is the only movie where Leelavathi played the role of Rajkumar's sister-in-law. The movie is an official adaptation of the National Award winning 1964 Malayalam movie ''Kudumbini''. This was singer K. J. ''Bettada Huli'' is a 1965 Kannada-language action drama film, directed and written by A. V. Sheshagiri Rao. The film was dubbed in Tamil in 1968 as ''Kolaikaaran Magan''. Plot A bandit, played by Udaykumar kidnaps the pregnant wife of City Cop, K. S. Ashwath. The Cop's wife delivers a baby boy under the Bandit's custody.
