B. J. Medical College (BJMC) is a medical college located in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The college, administered by the Government of Maharashtra, comprises clinical and para/pre-clinical departments working alongside the Sassoon General Hospital. Founded by Byramjee Jeejeebhoy in 1878. History The B.J. Medical School was started in 1878 and was converted to full-fledged B.J. Medical College in 1946. Dr.Shriram Lagoo (16 November 1927 – 17 December 2019) was an Indian film and theatre actor, in Hindi and Marathi, in addition to being an ENT Surgeon. He was known for his character roles in films. He acted in over 250 films including Hindi and Marathi films as well as Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati plays, and directed over 20 Marathi plays. He was also very vocal and active in furthering progressive and rational social causes, for example in 1999, he and social activist G. P. Keki Byramjee Grant
Keki Byramjee Grant (1920-2011) was an Indian cardiologist from Pune, Maharashtra, one of the first and respected cardiologists in the country and the founder of ''Grant Medical Foundation'', which runs the Ruby Hall Clinic, a nationally accredited hospital in Pune. The Government of India honoured him, posthumously in 2011, with Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, for his services to the medical science. Y. S. Chandrashekhar (born April 30, 1960) is an American cardiologist and Professor of Cardiology at the University of Minnesota. Sharad Moreshwar Hardikar (born 22 June 1932) is an Indian orthopedic surgeon and the founder of Hardikar Hospital, Pune. He also heads the hospital's charitable trust, the Sushrut Medical Care and Research Society.
