B-Movie (band)
B-Movie are a new wave band from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England, initially active in the first half of the 1980s. History The band's original line-up included lead vocalist and bassist Steve Hovington, guitarist Paul Statham, keyboardist Rick Holliday and drummer Graham Boffey. B-Movie's initial 1980 EP releases, the ''Take Three'' 7" and ''Nowhere Girl'' 12", were issued on the small UK indie label Dead Good Records. They were eventually signed to the Some Bizzare label, and their song "Moles" was featured on the original 1981 ''Some Bizzare Album''. In 1981, B-Movie signed with Phonogram imprint Deram, and had their biggest UK commercial success with the single "Remembrance Day", which reached No. 61 on the UK Singles Chart. ''Deep'' is the third solo studio album by English musician Peter Murphy. Produced by Simon Rogers, the album was released on 19 December 1989 through Beggars Banquet Records in the UK and RCA/ Atlantic Records in the US. The album features contributions from Murphy's backing band, The Hundred Men. The album spawned three singles: "The Line Between the Devil's Teeth (And That Which Cannot Be Repeat)", "Cuts You Up" and " A Strange Kind of Love". The track "Cuts You Up" became a modern rock hit in 1990, spending seven weeks at the top of the U.S. charts and crossing over to ''Billboard'' Hot 100, where it peaked at number 55. The other singles also charted on the Modern Rock Tracks chart, peaking at numbers 18 and 21, respectively. ''Love Hysteria'' is the second solo album by the British solo artist Peter Murphy, formerly of the gothic rock band Bauhaus. It was released in 1988. The album was largely written with former B-Movie keyboard player Paul Statham, who had joined Murphy's band, The Hundred Men. It was produced by former member of The Fall, Simon Rogers. Critical reception A review at the time of its release in ''Underground'' described the album as "a coherent, tuneful package with tracks that are, on the whole, pretty listenable". Peter John Joseph Murphy (born 11 July 1957) is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. He is the vocalist for the post-punk goth rock band Bauhaus. After Bauhaus initially disbanded, Murphy formed Dali's Car with Japan's bassist Mick Karn and released one album, '' The Waking Hour'' (1984). He later went on to release a number of solo albums, including '' Should the World Fail to Fall Apart'' (1986) and ''Love Hysteria'' (1988). In 1990, he achieved mainstream success with his hit single "Cuts You Up", which topped the American Modern Rock Tracks for 7 weeks. His album ''Deep'' also reached No. 44 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Bauhaus are an English rock band formed in Northampton in 1978. Known for their dark image and gloomy sound, Bauhaus are best known as one of the pioneers of gothic rock, although they mixed many genres, including dub, glam rock, psychedelia, and funk. The group consists of Daniel Ash (guitar, saxophone), Peter Murphy (vocals, occasional instruments), Kevin Haskins (drums) and David J (bass).
