Aš (; german: Asch) is a town in Cheb District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 12,000 inhabitants. Administrative parts Villages of Dolní Paseky, Doubrava (Aš), Doubrava, Horní Paseky, Kopaniny (Aš), Kopaniny, Mokřiny (Aš), Mokřiny, Nebesa (Aš), Nebesa, Nový Žďár and Vernéřov (Aš), Vernéřov are administrative parts of Aš. Geography Aš is located about northwest of Cheb, on the border with Germany. Mokřiny (Aš)
Mokřiny (German: ''Nassengrub'') is a village in Karlovy Vary Region, Czech Republic, and the second most populous town district of Aš. In 2001 the village had a population of 530. Geography Mokřiny is located to the south from Aš; unlike other town districts, it forms a continuous populated area with it. To the east it neighbours with Vernéřov, to the south with Nový Žďár, and to the southeast with Nebesa. To the west is the German border. History Mokřiny was established by the Zedtwitz, before 1413, when it is first mentioned. In 1874 Mokřiny became a separate municipality. In 1971 it was joined with Aš. Nový Žďár
Nový Žďár (German: ''Neuenbrand'') is a small border village in Karlovy Vary Region, Czech Republic; it is one of the districts of Aš. In 2001 the village had a population of 24. Geography Nový Žďár lies 2,5 kilometres south from Aš, about 628 meters above sea level. It neighbour with Aš to the north and with Nebesa to the east. To the west there is the German border. Háj (Fichtel Mountains)
Háj (german: Hainberg bei Asch, 758 m) is the highest mountain in the Czech part of the Fichtel Mountains. It lies near Aš in the Czech Republic. On the summit there is a mountain inn that was destroyed by fire and an observation tower. Vernéřov (German: ''Wernersreuth'') is a village in Karlovy Vary Region, Czech Republic. It is the third largest town district of Aš. In 2001 the village had a population of 106. Horní Paseky
Horní Paseky (German: ''Oberreuth'') is a border village in Karlovy Vary Region, Czech Republic. It is one of the nine town districts of Aš. In 2001 the village had a population of 52. Geography Horní Paseky lies 4 kilometres east from Aš, about 673 meters above sea level, close to border with Germany. Horní Paseky is surrounded by forests. History Horní Paseky is first mentioned in 1291, as a property of the Neuberg. In 1344 the village was bought by the Zedtwitz. In 1874 Horní Paseky became a separate municipality with ca 380 inhabitants. After a fire in 1917 the village has been almost depopulated. Doubrava (German language, German: ''Grün'') is a village in Karlovy Vary Region, Czech Republic. It is one of the nine districts of the town of Aš. In 2001 the village had a population of 94. In the village there are a mineral spring, a bus stop, a market and a restaurant. Geography Doubrava lies 6 kilometres northeast from Aš, about 507 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by forests. Through Doubrava flows Bílý Halštrov river. History Doubrava is first mentioned in 1392, as a property of Conrad von Neuberg. Dolní Paseky (German: ''Niederreuth'') is a village in Karlovy Vary Region, Czech Republic. It is one of the nine town districts of Aš. In 2001 the village had a population of 39. For most part, the village serves as a recreation area for whole Aš-region. A pavillon with a mineral spring, built in 1930, is located in the village. Hranice (; german: Roßbach) is a town in Cheb District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,100 inhabitants. Podhradí (german: Neuberg) is a municipality and village in Cheb District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 200 inhabitants. Etymology The name Podhradí (from ''pod hradem'', i. e. "under the castle") means "area under the castle".
