Azeem Ahmed Tariq
Azeem Ahmed Tariq () (died 1 May 1993) was a Pakistani politician who was the Chairman and one of the founding members of MQM (Muhajir Qaumi Movement) and its student wing APMSO (All Pakistan Muttahidda Students Organization). The party was formed to fight for the rights of the Mohajir people in Sindh, who were immigrants from India India, officially the Republic of India (Hindi: ), is a country in South Asia. The All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organization (APMSO; ) is a Pakistani student organization notable for creating a political party: the Mohajir Quami Movement, now called the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – London#History, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). APMSO was founded by Altaf Hussain (Pakistani politician), Altaf Hussain along with other students including Azeem Ahmed Tariq, Imran Farooq, Dr. Imran Farooq on Sunday, 11 June 1978 at Karachi University. Muhajir (Pakistan)
The Muhajir people (also spelled Mahajir and Mohajir) ( ur, , ) are Muslim immigrants of various ethnic groups and regional origins, and their descendants, who migrated from various regions of India after the Partition of India to settle in the newly independent state of Pakistan. The term "Muhajirs" refers to those Muslim migrants from India, mainly elites, who mostly settled in urban Sindh.
