The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council or AJK Council (Urdu: آزاد جموں و کشمیر کونسل) is a supreme legislative and executive body of the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir which works under the federal Government of Pakistan. This governing body has more constitutional, executive, financial, legal, and administrative powers than the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council is chaired by the Prime Minister of Pakistan and has a total of 14 members as per the 1974 Interim Constitution of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The Gilgit-Baltistan Council has been established as per Article 33 of Gilgit-Baltistan (Empowerment & Self Governance) Order, 2009. United Nations Security Council Resolution 47
The United Nations Security Council Resolution 47, adopted on 21 April 1948, concerns the resolution of the Kashmir conflict. After hearing arguments from both India and Pakistan, the Council increased the size of the UN Commission created by the former Resolution 39 to five members, instructed the Commission to go to the subcontinent and help the governments of India and Pakistan restore peace and order to the region and prepare for a plebiscite to decide the fate of Kashmir. Secondly, the Resolution recommended a three-step process for the resolution of the dispute.
