Aylmer District
The Aylmer District (District 1) is a municipal district in the city of Gatineau, Quebec. It is represented on Gatineau City Council by Steven Boivin. The district is located in the Aylmer sector of the city. It is one five districts in the sector. The district includes the neighbourhoods of Wychwood, Parc-Aylmer, Downtown Aylmer, Les Cêdres and McLeod. For the 2009 election, it gained the neighbourhood of Queen's Park and some of the downtown. Gatineau
Gatineau ( ; ) is a city in western Quebec, Canada. It is located on the northern bank of the Ottawa River, immediately across from Ottawa, Ontario. Gatineau is the largest city in the Outaouais administrative region and is part of Canada's National Capital Region. As of 2021, Gatineau is the fourth-largest city in Quebec with a population of 291,041, and a census metropolitan area population of 1,488,307. Gatineau is coextensive with a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and census division (CD) of the same name, whose geographical code is 81. The Gatineau City Council (french: Conseil municipal de Gatineau) is the governing body for the mayor–council government in the city of Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. It is composed of 20 city councillors and the mayor. The mayor is elected at large, while each of the councillors represent districts throughout the city. Aylmer, Quebec
Aylmer is a former city in Quebec, Canada. It is located on the north shore of the Ottawa River and along Route 148. In January 2002, it amalgamated into the city of Gatineau, which is part of Canada's National Capital Region. Aylmer's population in 2011 was 55,113. It is named after Lord Aylmer, who was a governor general of British North America and a lieutenant governor of Lower Canada from 1830 to 1835. It bills itself as the "Recreation Capital of the National Capital", given its many golf courses, green spaces, spas, marina, and bicycle paths. There is little industry in the sector, the area being mainly residential. Virtually all the major shops, services, and restaurants are located along Chemin d'Aylmer. The sector's indoor swimming pool and skateboard park are also located on that road.
