Avi Lubin
Avi Lubin ( he, אבי לובין); born 1977, is an Israeli curator of contemporary art. As of 2018, he is the curator of Hamidrasha Gallery. Lubin is also the co-founder and co-editor of Tohu Magazine, and the curator of Field Hospital X – Aya Ben Ron's work, which represented Israel at the 58th Venice Biennale, 2019. Biography Avi Lubin was born in 1977. Contemporary art is the art of today, produced in the second half of the 20th century or in the 21st century. Alona Rodeh
Alona Rodeh ( he, אלונה רודה) is a visual artist. Her work spans a variety of media including sculpture, video, immersive installations using light and sound, photography, and publishing. Biography Born and raised in Israel, Rodeh received her BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem in 2003, and participated in the BFA exchange program of the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. Ohad Meromi
Ohad Meromi is an Israeli sculptor. He lives and works in Brooklyn. His sculpture ''The Sunbather'' (an eight-foot-long, 4,000-pound bronze sculpture of a reclining human form, painted vibrant pink and costing an estimated $515,000, of which Meromi received $103,000) was chosen to be installed on Long Island City, a decision which evoked significant controversy, primarily because there was no community involvement in the process of its selection. Michal Helfman
Michal Helfman ( he, מיכל הלפמן; born 1973 in Tel Aviv) is an Israeli artist living and working in Tel Aviv, Israel. She is a multidisciplinary artist working in various disciplines including sculpture, architecture, video and drawings. In order to demonstrate the relations between the reviled and the hidden forces working within society and culture, she has developed an installation platform based on the back-stage front-stage structure of the theatrical stage as one, which brings together simultaneously both the real and the symbolic. Moshe Gershuni
Moshe Gershuni (11 September 1936 – 22 January 2017) was an Israelis, Israeli painter and sculptor. In his works, particularly in his paintings from the 1980s, he expressed a position different from the norm, commemorating The Holocaust in Israeli art. In addition, he created in his works a connection between bereavement and homoerotic sexuality, in the way he criticized society and Israeli Zionism-nationalism. He was awarded the Israel Prize for Painting for his work in 2003, but in the end it was revoked and he was deprived of receiving the prize. Gideon Gechtman
Gideon Gechtman (1942 – November 27, 2008) was an Israeli artist and sculptor. His art is most noted for holding a dialogue with death, often in relation with his own biography. Biography Gideon Gechtman was born in Alexandria, Egypt. He moved to the Mandatory Palestine, British mandate of Palestine with his family in 1945. He studied at the Avni Institute of Art and Design (1961–1962), Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College, Hammersmith College of Art (1968–1971), the Ealing School of Art, and Tel Aviv University (1975–1976). Sommer Contemporary Art is a Contemporary Art gallery, owned by Irit Fine Sommer, and based on Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv, Israel. The gallery is considered to be among the most influential in Israel for contemporary art. It was first opened in a small space on Rothschild 64 in 1999. Gastón Zvi Ickowicz ( he, גסטון צבי איצקוביץ; born 1974, Buenos Aires) is an Israeli visual artist living and working in Tel Aviv. Biography Gaston Ickowicz immigrated to Israel from Argentina in 1980 at the age of 6. He studied photography at Naggar School of Photography, Media, New Music, Visual Communication and Phototherapy in Musrara, Jerusalem from 1997 till 2000.
