Auterive, Haute-Garonne
Auterive (; oc, Autariba) is a commune in the Haute-Garonne department in southwestern France. Auterive station has rail connections to Toulouse, Foix and Latour-de-Carol. It is the seat (capital) of the canton of Auterive. Geography The town lies on the eastern banks of the Ariège river. The commune is bordered by eleven other communes: Grépiac and Labruyère-Dorsa to the north, Miremont to the northwest, Auragne to the northeast, Mauvaisin to the east, Cintegabelle to the southeast, Caujac to the south, Mauressac and Grazac to the southwest, and finally by Lagrâce-Dieu and Puydaniel to the west. Occitania (administrative Region)
Occitania ( ; french: Occitanie ; oc, Occitània ; ca, Occitània ) is the southernmost administrative region of metropolitan France excluding Corsica, created on 1 January 2016 from the former regions of Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. The Council of State approved Occitania as the new name of the region on 28 September 2016, coming into effect on 30 September 2016. The modern administrative region is named after the larger cultural and historical region of Occitania, which corresponds with the southern third of France. Portet-Saint-Simon–Puigcerdà Railway
The Portet-Saint-Simon - Puigcerdà railway is a secondary railway line in southwestern France. It connects Portet-sur-Garonne, 11 km south of Toulouse on the Toulouse–Bayonne railway, to Latour-de-Carol and Puigcerdà, towns located on each side of the French/Spanish border in Cerdanya. The railway was opened in several stages between 1861 and 1929. Since the closure of the railway from Pau to Huesca via Canfranc in 1970, it is the only railway crossing the Pyrenees main chain. It is used daily by Corail Lunéa trains from Paris to Latour-de-Carol and Transport express régional, (TER) trains from Toulouse to Pamiers, Foix, Ax-les-Thermes and Latour-de-Carol. Most freight and long-distance passenger trains use either the Bordeaux–Irun railway around the western end of the Pyrenees, or the Narbonne–Portbou railway around the eastern end. Intercités de Nuit is a brand name used by France’s national railway company, SNCF, to denote overnight passenger rail services in France. It was known as ''Corail Lunéa'' before 2009 and as ''Lunéa'' from 2010 to 2012. Between 2013 and 2017, most services were cancelled due to budget cuts.
