Cinema Of Austria
Cinema of Austria refers to the film industry based in Austria. Austria has had an active film, cinema industry since the early 20th century when it was the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and that has continued to the present day. Producer Sascha Kolowrat-Krakowsky, producer-director-writer Luise Kolm and the Austro-Hungarian directors Michael Curtiz and Alexander Korda were among the pioneers of early Austrian cinema. Several Austrian directors pursued careers in Weimar Germany and later in the United States, among them Fritz Lang, G. W. Pabst, Josef von Sternberg, Billy Wilder, Fred Zinnemann, and Otto Preminger. Between the two World Wars, directors like E. W. Emo and Henry Koster - the latter of whom had emigrated from Austria, provided examples of Austrian film comedies. At the same time, Willi Forst and Walter Reisch founded the ''Wiener Film'' genre. Ernst Schütz
Ernst Schütz (5 October 1935 – 22 December 2020) was an Austrian singer and actor. Biography Schütz studied singing at the Johann-Joseph-Fux-Konservatorium Graz. He made his debut from 1962 to 1964 at the Graz Opera. In 1966, he moved to Vienna and sang operettas at the Raimund Theater until 1972. He was also an actor, notably in the film ''Außer Rand und Band am Wolfgangsee'' in 1972. Schütz died on 22 December 2020 in Mondsee at the age of 85. Johann Nestroy
Johann Nepomuk Eduard Ambrosius Nestroy (; 7 December 1801 – 25 May 1862) was a singer, actor and playwright in the popular Austrian tradition of the Biedermeier period and its immediate aftermath. He participated in the 1848 revolutions and his work reflects the new liberal spirit then spreading throughout Europe. Career Nestroy was born in Vienna, where he was a law student from 1817 to 1822, before abandoning his studies to become a singer. He joined the Theater am Kärntnertor, beginning with Sarastro in ''The Magic Flute'' on 24 August 1822. After a year of singing in Vienna, he went to Amsterdam where he appeared in baritone roles for two years at the local German Theatre. From 1825 to 1831 he accepted engagements to sing and act in Brünn, Graz, Pressburg, Klagenfurt, Vienna and Lemberg. Leopold Lindtberg
Leopold Lindtberg (born in Vienna on 1 June 1902; died in Sils im Engadin/Segl on 18 April 1984) was an Austrian Swiss film and theatre director. Divina-Film
Gloria Film was a West German film production and distribution company. It was established in 1949 by Ilse Kubaschewski. An earlier, unconnected company of the same name had existed during the silent era in Germany, and had been absorbed into UFA in the 1920s. During the 1930s an Austrian production company also called itself Gloria. The company was set-up by Kubaschewski, a cinema-owner, who had noted that re-releases of Nazi-era films, particularly those made by UFA were easily outgrossing foreign film imports and post-war realist rubble films. Initially her company specialised in acquiring the rights to classic German films, but gradually she began co-funding new films with production companies. Fritz Wepper (born 17 August 1941, Munich, Germany) is a German film and television actor. He is best known for his role as Inspector Harry Klein in the long-running crime series ''Derrick'' (1974–1998). Wepper is also remembered for his roles in the films ''Cabaret'' (1972) and '' The Bridge'' (1959) and as Mayor Wöller in the TV series ''Um Himmels Willen'' (2002–2021). Life and career Fritz Wepper was born as the son of a lawyer who was missing in action as a soldier in Poland in 1945. He started his acting career in a production of ''Peter Pan'' at the age of eleven.
