Australian Under-21 Individual Speedway Championship
The Australian Under-21 Speedway Championship is a motorcycle speedway championship held each year since 1986, with the exception of 1994 and 1995, to determine the Australian Under-21 national champion. The event is organised by Motorcycling Australia (MA). The event was run as the Australian Under-18 Championship in 1986. This lasted just one year and was changed to the Under-21 Championship in 1987 to bring it in line with the Individual Speedway Junior World Championship which is also for Under-21s. The inaugural Under-21 Championship in 1987 was held at the Undera Park Speedway in Victoria. Queensland riders scored a trifecta. The championship was won by Gary Allan from brothers Steve and Tony Langdon. It would take another 22 years (2009) before another Queenslander would step on the podium when Darcy Ward won the first of three straight titles. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . There are now both domestic and international competitions in a number of countries, including the Speedway World Cup, whilst the highest overall scoring individual in the Speedway Grand Prix events is pronounced the world champion. Rory Schlein
Rory Robert Schlein (born 1 September 1984) is an Australian speedway rider. Career Born in Darwin, Northern Territory, Schlein, lived in the southern Adelaide suburb of Hallett Cove and won the Australian Under-16 Championship at the Northline Speedway in his home town of Darwin in 2000. Schlein was signed by the Edinburgh Monarchs in 2001 and won the Conference League championship that year while on loan at Sheffield Tigers. He won the Premier League championship with the Monarchs in 2003 and won the Australian Under-21 Speedway Championship in 2003 and 2004 and finished 2nd to Chris Holder in 2005. He also won the South Australian Championship in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. He first extended season in the highest British league was for Belle Vue Aces during the 2004 Elite League speedway season. 2004 Australian Under-21 Individual Speedway Championship
The 2004 Australian Under-21 Individual Speedway Championship was the 18th running of the Australian Under-21 Individual Speedway Championship organised by Motorcycling Australia. The final took place on 31 January 2004 at the Undera Park Speedway in Undera, Victoria. The championship was won by defending champion, Adelaide's Rory Schlein. 2015 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship
The 2015 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship was the 39th edition of the FIM World motorcycle speedway Under-21 Championships. It was staged over three rounds, at Lonigo, Lublin and Pardubice. The competition was won by Bartosz Zmarzlik, who finished five points ahead of Denmark's Anders Thomsen, despite not winning any of the three rounds to be held. Thomsen finished second after winning a run-off with compatriot Mikkel Michelsen, who won at Lonigo and Pardubice but struggled at Lublin and was unable to catch Zmarzlik, who finished on the podium at each of the rounds. 2016 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship
The 2016 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship was the 40th edition of the FIM World motorcycle speedway Under-21 Championships. It was staged over three rounds, at King's Lynn, Pardubice and Gdańsk. The championship was won by triple Australian Under-21 Champion Max Fricke who become Australia's fifth Under-21 World Champion. Fricke's consistent run over the series in which he finished 3rd in the first two rounds and 2nd in the final round saw him score 46 points. Finishing in second place was Polish rider Krystian Pieszczek with 40 points while British rider Robert Lambert defeated Australia's Jack Holder (the younger brother of 2012 Speedway World Champion Chris Holder) in a run-off in the final round in Poland to claim 3rd place after both riders finished the series on 37 points. 2011 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship
The 2011 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship was the 35th edition of the FIM World motorcycle speedway Under-21 Championships. The event final was increased from three races to four races between 23 July and 9 October 2011. Maciej Janowski of Poland became the new champion.
