Australian Safari
The Australasian Safari was an off-road motor sport racing event held in Australia between 1985 and 2014. History The Australasian Safari was first run in 1985 and held under the International Sporting Code of FIM and from 1999, the General Competition Rules of Motorcycling Australia. It was usually held around the end of August, in the Australian winter, and covered approximately 5,500 kilometres, mostly through the Outback in just over a week. Like the Dakar Rally, the vehicle classes involved were motorcycles and cars, however there were no truck class. From 2008, a quad class was introduced. The event grew in size and scope for the first few years. FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup
The FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies was a rally raid series organised by the FIA, culminating with a champion driver, co-driver, and team; with additional trophies awarded to T2 and T3 drivers & teams. Starting with the 2011 season, the previous FIA Cross-Country Rally World Cup was joined with the FIA's International Cup for Cross-Country Bajas to form the new competition. From the beginning of the 2019 season the cup was once again split, with the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Bajas being held alongside the competition for "baja" style rally raids. The Holden Rodeo is a utility vehicle (pickup truck) that was sold in Australasia (Australia and New Zealand) by Holden. Introduced in 1980, the Rodeo was built by Isuzu over three generations. Andy Caldecott (10 August 1964 – 9 January 2006) was an off-road motorcycle racer born in Keith, South Australia. He won the motorcycle division of the Australian Safari Rally four times consecutively (2000–2003) and was a competitor in the Dakar Rally in 2004 (DNF), 2005 (6th), and 2006. The Isuzu Trooper is a full-size SUV that was produced by the Japanese automaker Isuzu between 1981 and 2007. Ross Dunkerton OAM (born 16 July 1945) is an Australian rally driver. Dunkerton is a 5 time Australian Rally Champion and 2 time Asian Pacific Rally Champion. He was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2018. Dunkerton is one of only three Australian rally drivers in history to achieve FIA A seeded status (the others being Chris Atkinson and Cody Crocker), and is arguably Australia’s most successful. The Honda XR600R is an offroad motorcycle with an air-cooled single cylinder, four-stroke engine. The bike was manufactured by Honda from 1985 to 2000 and is part of the Honda XR series.
