Australian Open Of Surfing
The Australian Open of Surfing is an annual surf, skate and music event held on Manly Beach, Sydney, Australia. It is World Surf League sanctioned surf contests for men and women surf athletes from around the world. It is owned by IMG The inaugural nine-day event was held from the 11 to 19 February 2012. The Open was cancelled in 2018. Pro Final Winners Australian Longboard Surfing Open The event began as the ‘Malfunction' Surf Festival in 1984. Manly Beach
Manly Beach is a beach situated among the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia, in Manly, New South Wales. From north to south, the three main sections are Queenscliff, North Steyne, and South Steyne. Etymology The beach was named by Capt. Arthur Phillip for the indigenous people living there. He wrote, "Their confidence and manly behaviour made me give the name of Manly Cove to this place". Sally Fitzgibbons
Sally Jayne Fitzgibbons (born 19 December 1990) is an Australian professional surfer on the Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour (2009–2013). In June 2019, she was ranked No. 1 in the world for women's surfing after winning the Rio Pro. Sally now competes on the second tier challenger series after failing to qualify for the WSL top 10 at the 2022 mid-season cut. Surfing career Fitzgibbons was born in Gerroa, New South Wales. As a 14-year-old, Sally won the ASP Pro Junior open, an event open to any female surfer 21 and younger. Harley Ingleby is an Australian professional longboard surfrider. Ingleby finished 5th in his first year competing in the 2005 ASP World Tour. In 2008, he won Oxbow world tour event in Anglet, France finishing 3rd overall in points. Tweed Heads is a town in New South Wales. Kingscliff
Kingscliff is a coastal town just south of Tweed Heads in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia, and is a beach community offering a variety of holiday accommodations. Together with the villages of Chinderah and Fingal, it is a tourist destination that provides beach and estuary access for swimming, surfing, fishing and water sports. Its main street, Marine Parade, contains many cafes, shops and accommodation located directly across from Kingscliff beach and creek. The town also has two primary schools and a state high school.
