Hansjörg Auer (; 18 February 1984 – 16 April 2019) was an Austrian mountaineer, noted for his free solo climbs, and particularly of ''Fish Route'' in the Italian Dolomites, the first-ever big wall solo at . ''National Geographic'' described him as "one of the boldest and best climbers in the world", and he won the 2019 Piolet d'Or for this free solo ascent of the Lupghar Sar West. He died in an avalanche while climbing on Howse Peak in the Canadian Rockies. Personal life Auer was born in Zams, Tyrol, on 18 February 1984, and lived in the Ötztal area of Tyrol. Leopold von Auer ( hu, Auer Lipót; June 7, 1845July 15, 1930) was a Hungarian violinist, academic, conductor, composer, and instructor. Many of his students went on to become prominent concert performers and teachers. John Auer
John Auer (March 30, 1875 – April 30, 1948) was an American physiologist and pharmacologist. He published nearly 150 papers during his career and is credited with the first description of Auer rods. Auer also contributed to the study of anaphylaxis and helped develop modern thoracic surgery. During World War I, he conducted wartime research with the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research. Johann Paul Auer (1636–1687) was a German painter. Born in Nuremberg, he studied from 1654 to 1658 under Georg Christoph Eimmart at Regensburg, Ratisbon. In 1660 he went to Venice, and there received instructions from Pietro Liberi. He then went to Rome, where he stayed upwards of four years, and thence through Turin and Lyons to Paris, and so home to Nuremberg in 1670. He died in 1687. Joseph Auer (October 11, 1941 – March 9, 2019) was an American football former running back. He graduated from Coral Gables Senior High School in Coral Gables, Florida and played collegiately for Georgia Tech and professionally in the American Football League for the Buffalo Bills (1964–1965), and the Miami Dolphins (1966–1967). He also played in the National Football League for the Atlanta Falcons. He is most remembered for returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown for the Dolphins in their first regular-season football game in 1966, 95 yards against the Oakland Raiders. Ingeborg Auer is an Austrian climatologist, known for her work on Project HISTALP (Historical Instrumental Climatological Surface Time Series of the Greater Alpine Region). Auer comes from Velden am Wörthersee. Ilmari Auer (until 1895 Tappura; February 17, 1879 – July 13, 1965) was a Finnish politician and farmer. Auer was a member of the Parliament of Finland from 1919 to 1922 and 1924 to 1927, representing the National Progressive Party. He was again in the Parliament from 1929 to 1930, this time representing the Agrarian Party. On all three occasions, Auer was elected from the constituency of Uusimaa Province. He was 2nd Minister of Agriculture in the cabinet of Lauri Ingman in 1924 and became Minister of Agriculture after the Agrarian Party withdrew from the cabinet. Auer was born in Lempäälä.
