The Attorney General of Utah is an elected constitutional officer in the executive branch of the state government of Utah. Sean Reyes
Sean David Reyes is an American lawyer and politician who has been the Attorney General of Utah since 2013. Appointed to the office by Governor Gary Herbert following the resignation of John Swallow, Reyes was subsequently reelected. Reyes is a member of the Republican Party and has served as a county, state, and national delegate for the Republican Party and a member of the Utah Republican Party's State Central Committee. John Swallow
John Swallow (born November 10, 1962) is an American lawyer and politician who served as Attorney General of Utah. Just prior to serving as attorney general, he served as Chief Deputy Attorney General overseeing all civil litigation for the state of Utah. Swallow has been a lawyer since 1990 and was a member of the Utah State House of Representatives from 1996 to 2002. In December 2009, John Swallow was appointed Chief Deputy Attorney General for Utah. While serving as Chief Deputy, some of his most prominent projects included the fights to overturn the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and to gain state control of Utah's federally controlled lands. In November 2012, Swallow easily won the election for Utah Attorney General by a 64 to 30 percent margin. Mark Shurtleff
Mark Leonard Shurtleff (born August 9, 1957) is an American attorney, former three-term Utah Attorney General, and founder of the Shurtleff Law Firm and the Shurtleff Group. He was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of the law firm Troutman Sanders and served as a Salt Lake County Commissioner prior to being elected as Attorney General of the state of Utah. Education and early career Shurtleff attended Brighton High School (Cottonwood Heights, Utah), Brigham Young University, University of Utah College of Law, and University of San Diego School of Law. Shurtleff served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Peru. He served four years in the United States Navy as a Judge Advocate General Corps (JAG). Jan Graham is an American lawyer from Utah who served as State Attorney General from 1993 to 2001. Other than candidates for Lieutenant Governor running on a ticket with a male candidate, she is the only woman ever elected to statewide office in the state of Utah. She was the most recent Democrat to serve in a statewide elected position in Utah. Early life, education, and legal career Jan Crump was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. R. Paul Van Dam (born October 15, 1937) is an American politician and attorney from the state of Utah. He attended East High School and graduated in 1955. Paul and his wife Mary Bailey are fifth-generation Utahns. He served as Attorney General of Utah from 1989 to 1993, as a Democrat. He attended the University of Utah and is a former Salt Lake County district attorney. Under District Attorney Van Dam's leadership, Salt Lake County DA's office was the first jurisdiction to prosecute serial killer Ted Bundy, subsequently getting a conviction.
