The Regrettes
The Regrettes is an American punk rock band from Los Angeles. The band is led by frontwoman Lydia Night. They released three studio albums on Warner Bros. Records: '' Feel Your Feelings Fool!'' (2017), '' How Do You Love?'' (2019), and '' Further Joy'' (2022). History 2015: Early career and ''Hey!'' EP Prior to the formation of the band, lead vocalist Lydia Night met guitarist Genessa Gariano, bassist Sage Chavis, and drummer Maxx Morando in music school. At the time, Gariano, Chavis and Morando were in a band together, called "Genessa" and Night was in the two-piece band Pretty Little Demons (who changed their name to ''The Regrettes'' in the last few months of life) with drummer Marlhy Murphy. Lydia Night
Lydia Victoria Night (born October 13, 2000) is an American musician primarily known for her work as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of California rock band The Regrettes. She was also the lead vocalist and guitarist of pop rock bands Pretty Little Demons and LILA as well as a frequent collaborator with rock duo Dead Man's Bones. Robben Barquist of Collide Culture referred to Night as the new face of feminist punk. She is the daughter of Morgan Higby Night. Biography 2000–2011: Early life Night began performing live as young as two years old, singing the Ramones song "Beat on the Brat" for the soundcheck at her father's nightclub in New Orleans, where she was born. A few years later, she and her family relocated to Santa Monica, California, and soon after Los Angeles. Robert C. Ludwig (born c. 1945) is an American mastering engineer. He has mastered recordings on all the major recording formats for all the major record labels, and on projects by more than 1,300 artists including Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Bryan Ferry, Paul McCartney, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen and Daft Punk resulting in over 3,000 credits. Mort Shuman
Mortimer Shuman (12 November 1938 – 2 November 1991) was an American singer, pianist and songwriter, best known as co-writer of many 1960s rock and roll hits, including "Viva Las Vegas". He also wrote and sang many songs in French, such as "Le Lac Majeur", "Papa-Tango-Charly", "Sha Mi Sha", "Un Été de Porcelaine", and "Brooklyn by the Sea" which became hits in France. Life and career Shuman was born in Brooklyn, New York, United States, of Polish Jewish immigrants and went to Abraham Lincoln High School, subsequently studying music at the New York Conservatory. He became a fan of R&B music and after he met Doc Pomus the two teamed up to compose for Aldon Music at offices in New York City's Brill Building. Jerome Solon Felder (June 27, 1925 – March 14, 1991), known professionally as Doc Pomus, was an American blues singer and songwriter. He is best known as the co-writer of many rock and roll hits. Pomus was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a non-performer in 1992, the Songwriters Hall of Fame (1992), and the Blues Hall of Fame (2012). Early life Born Jerome Solon Felder in 1925 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Jewish immigrants. He attended Brooklyn College from 1943 to 1945. "A Teenager in Love" is a song written by Doc Pomus and partner Mort Shuman. It was originally recorded by Dion and the Belmonts, and released in March 1959. It appeared on their album ''Presenting Dion and the Belmonts'' (1959). It reached number 5 on the ''Billboard'' pop charts. The song was covered by many different artists; in 1959, three different versions of the song charted simultaneously in the UK, the other two versions being by Marty Wilde and Craig Douglas, which reached No. 2 and No. 13 respectively on the British chart. Background The song was written by the songwriting duo Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman commissioned by Laurie Records, originally intended for the doo-wop singing group The Mystics. Laurie Records, however, gave the song to Dion & The Belmonts instead to record, and Pomus and Shuman then quickly wrote another song, "Hushabye" for the Mystics.
