Atresmedia Corporación de Medios de Comunicación, S.A., previously Grupo Antena 3, is a Spanish media group, present in the television, radio and filmmaking industries. La Sexta (; "The Sixth"; stylized as laSexta) is a Spanish free-to-air television channel. It is privately owned and was originally founded on 18 March 2001 as Beca TV that began broadcasting on 1 April 2001, that same year. By 21 July 2003, the channel ran into liquidation and was closed down, but two years later in 2005, it was replaced by a new channel called La Sexta that began test transmissions on 25 November 2005, and a year later, it started broadcasting officially on 27 March 2006. The channel's programming is generalist, however, there is an emphasis on humour and entertainment. Neox (formerly Antena.Neox) is a Spanish television channel run by Atresmedia. History The channel was launched as Antena.Neox in 2005 together with Antena.Nova, this with the aim of strengthening the Antena 3 brand in the recently launched digital terrestrial television in Spain. At first Neox was a channel that mixed children's and youth programming. In 2006 Antena 3 and CBS Corporation signed an agreement to broadcast content produced by CBS, Showtime and UPN, which would be programmed on Antena.Neox, Antena.Nova and Antena 3 until the Showtime and UPN brands were implemented on the Spanish television replacing Neox and Nova, however, the change was not carried out in the end due to the distribution of broadcasting rights with other Spanish channels. Nova is a Spanish television channel operated by Atresmedia. The network runs 24 hours a day in the Spanish language. The service is aimed at women, with the schedule reflecting this aim. Mega (Spanish TV Channel)
Mega is a Spanish television channel owned by Atresmedia. Its programming is aimed towards a male audience. The network is available on digital terrestrial television (TDT as it is known in Spain) as well as cable and satellite. History On May 6, 2014, Atresmedia was forced to close Nitro, Xplora and la Sexta 3 channels due to a supreme court ruling, so the programming aimed at the male audience had to be placed on other group channels such as Neox or LaSexta. After this event, Atresmedia sought to recover the license that was leased to Gol Televisión, setting the end of 2015 as a limit. In May 2015, Atresmedia and Mediapro signed the rescission of the frequency rental agreement, since Mediapro would launch a new channel in association with BeIn Sports, so Gol Televisión would stop broadcasting.
