Alexander Stadium
Alexander Stadium is a track and field athletics stadium in Perry Park, Birmingham, England. It hosted the athletics and opening/closing ceremonies of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Other events held there include the annual British Grand Prix between 2011 and 2019 and in 2022, the Amateur Athletics Association Championships, 1998 Disability World Athletics Championships, and English Schools' Athletics Championships. Original construction began in 1975 and the stadium opened in 1976. It is owned and operated by Birmingham City Council. Birchfield Harriers use it as their home stadium, replacing their former home at Alexander Sports Ground. Mokgadi Caster Semenya OIB (born 7 January 1991) is a South African middle-distance runner and winner of two Olympic gold medals and three World Championships in the women's 800 metres. She first won gold at the World Championships in 2009 and went on to win at the 2016 Olympics and the 2017 World Championships, where she also won a bronze medal in the 1500 metres. After the doping disqualification of Mariya Savinova, she was also awarded gold medals for the 2011 World Championships and the 2012 Olympics. Semenya is an intersex woman, with 5α-Reductase 2 deficiency, assigned female at birth, with XY chromosomes and naturally elevated testosterone levels caused by the presence of internal testes. Jarinter Mwasya
Jarinter Mwasya (born 30 December 1996) is a Kenyan track and field athlete. She was the 2022 African champion over 800 metres. Mwaysa was issued with a four year competition ban by the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya due to a doping violations (set to expire in August 2027). Early life Mwaysa is from Iuani a mountainous region in Makueni County. She started running at Nthukula Secondary School in Wote. In 2013 she achieved her first medal over 800m whilst competing at the East Africa School Games in Lira, Uganda. Mwaysa joined the Kenya Defence Force in 2015. Career In May 2022 she achieved a new personal best time of 1:59.84 at the Meeting international du SATUC in Toulouse. Jemma Reekie
Jemma Reekie (born 6 March 1998) is a Scottish middle-distance runner. She placed fourth in the 800 metres at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, narrowly missing out on the bronze medal. Reekie achieved a rare double at the 2019 European U23 Championships, winning both the 800m and 1500 metres events. At age 19, she took the 1500m title at the 2017 European under-20 Championships, when she also finished fourth in the 3000 metres. Reekie is the British record holder for the indoor mile. She won two British titles, and four titles at junior level. Catriona Bisset (born 1 March 1994) is an Australian middle-distance runner who specialises in the 800 metres. She holds the Oceanian record for both indoors and outdoors in the event, and won the gold medal at the 2019 Universiade. Bisset took four individual Australian national titles. Prudence Tebogo Sekgodiso (born 5 January 2002), also spelled Prudence Sekgodisa, is a South African middle-distance runner specializing in the 800 metres. Halimah Nakaayi (born 16 October 1994) is a Ugandan middle-distance runner who specialises in the 800 metres. She is the 2019 World Champion at the event and won the bronze medal at the 2022 World Indoor Championships. Natoya Goule-Toppin (born 30 March 1991) is a Jamaican middle-distance runner. In the 800 metres she is the 2019 Pan American Games champion, 2018 NACAC Championship silver medallist, and 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist. Goule is the current Jamaican record holder at the event both out- and indoors, and also for the indoor 1000 metres.
