Athletics At The 2015 Pan American Games – Men's 400 Metres Hurdles
The men's 400 metres hurdles sprint competition of the athletics events at the 2015 Pan American Games will take place between July 23 and July 24 at the CIBC Pan Am and Parapan Am Athletics Stadium. The defending Pan American Games champion is Omar Cisneros of Cuba. Records Prior to this competition, the existing world and Pan American Games records were as follows: Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) was able to enter up to two entrants providing they had met the minimum standard (51.62) in the qualifying period (January 1, 2014 to June 28, 2015). York Lions Stadium is an outdoor sports stadium on the Keele Campus of Toronto's York University in the former city of North York. The Pan American Games is a quadrennial event which began in 1951. The Pan American Sports Organization accepts only athletes who are representing one of the organisation's member states (most of which are within the Americas) and recognises records set at editions of the Pan American Games. The Games records in athletics are the best marks set in competitions at the Games. The athletics events at the Games are divided into four groups: track events (including sprints, middle- and long-distance running, hurdling and relays), field events (including javelin, discus, hammer, pole vault, long and triple jumps), road events and combined events (the heptathlon and decathlon). Félix Sánchez (hurdler)
Félix Sánchez, (born August 30, 1977) is a retired Dominican-American track and field athlete. He is of Dominican descent, was born and raised in the United States, and competed for the Dominican Republic, specializing in the 400 meter hurdles. He is a two-time Olympic gold medallist, winning gold in 2004 and 2012, and was also World Champion in 2001 and 2003. Just before turning 36, he set the Masters M35 World Record with a time of 48.10. Sanchez acquired many nicknames: "Super Felix", "the Invincible", "Superman", and "the Dictator". The Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium, the Dominican Republic’s largest stadium, is named after him. Kerron Stephon Clement (born October 31, 1985) is a Trinidadian-born American track and field athlete who competes in the 400-meter hurdles and 400-meter sprint. He held the indoor world record in the 400-meter sprint, having broken Michael Johnson's mark in 2005. Mahau Camargo Suguimati (born November 13, 1984 in São Miguel do Araguaia, Goiás) is a Brazilian track hurdler of Japanese ancestry. Since the age of eight, Suguimati had lived and studied for sixteen years in Niiza, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Andrés Bayron Silva Lemos (born 27 March 1986 in Tacuarembó ) is a Uruguayan track athlete. He competed in the combined events on the youth and junior levels, but has since specialized in the 400 metres and 400 metres hurdles. Jeshua Anderson (born June 22, 1989) is a retired American sprinter, who specializes in the 400 meter hurdles. He is a 3 time NCAA champion in the 400m hurdles and was the second freshman from Washington State University to ever win the NCAA title. In 2008 Anderson was 400 meter hurdles Junior World Champion and holds the second fastest high school time recorded in the 300m hurdles. He was born and raised in Woodland Hills, California and attended Taft High School. After winning the 2011 Outdoor Championships, Anderson had the competed for team USA at the world championships. He also participated in the 2016 Olympic trials in which he finished as a finalist.
