Caracas (, ), officially Santiago de León de Caracas, abbreviated as CCS, is the capital and largest city of Venezuela, and the center of the Metropolitan Region of Caracas (or Greater Caracas). Carmelo Ríos Figueroa (October 11, 1959 – October 21, 2022) was a Puerto Rican long-distance runner, who competed for his native country in the men's 3000 m steeplechase at the 1984 Summer Olympics. He set his personal best (8:28.89) in that event on June 17, 1983 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Background Ríos was the silver medalist at the 1983 Pan American Games and competed at the 1983 World Championships in Athletics later that year, where he was knocked out in the heats stage. In his only Olympic appearance in 1984, he finished twelfth in his semi-final in the men's steeplechase. He took the bronze medal at the 1985 CAC Championships. Mark Nenow
Mark Nenow (born November 16, 1957) is a retired long-distance runner from the United States. He ran an American record in the 10,000 meters, with a result of 27 minutes, 20.56 seconds in Brussels, Belgium on September 5, 1986; it stood as a national record until May 4, 2001. Running career Nenow attended Anoka High School in Minnesota. Although he did not take up running until his upper-class years in high school, he graduated from Anoka with personal-best times of 4:22 in the mile and 9:17 in the 2-mile. He subsequently attended and ran with University of Kentucky, with whom he competed in cross country and track and field. He spent much of his time in Kentucky following a high-mileage protocol, often running 140 miles per week. As a senior undergrad at Kentucky he qualified for the Olympic Trials in 1980 (even though the US ended up boycotting the 1980 Summer Olympics). Domingo Tibaduiza Reyes (born November 22, 1950) is a former long-distance runner from Gameza, Colombia, who represented his native country at four consecutive Summer Olympics: in the 10,000 metres (1972, 1976, 1980 and 1984), the 5,000 metres (1976) and in the men's marathon (1980, 1984). He currently holds the Colombian national record 3000 metres, 10000 metres and 20000 metres. Gerardo Agustín Alcalá García (born 28 June 1961) is a Mexican former long-distance runner. In the 5000 metres he won the silver medal at the 1983 Pan American Games. He also competed at the 1984 Olympic Games without reaching the final. In the 10,000 metres he won the bronze medal at the 1982 Central American and Caribbean Games and the silver medal at the 1986 Central American and Caribbean Games. He later finished fourth at the 1990 Goodwill Games in 27:43.07 minutes. This was his personal best time.
