Atach Tatuq
Atach Tatuq was a Canadian hip hop group from Montreal, consisting of musicians DJ Naes, Égypto (Fisdelhom), 1-2 d'Piq, L'Intrus (Jim Lee), Virus, Dee, Khyro, R.U., Casco, Arnak and Haikai. The group's music contains lyrics in both English and French. History Originally known as Traumaturges, the group was formed in 1998 by Rass, Égypto, L'Intrus, Khyro et DJ Naes,. and released its first album, ''Suce mon index'' (''Suck My Index Finger'') in 2000. The group evolved into Atach Tatuq, which literally translates to "Attach Your Beanie" (a Québécois expression used before embarking on an intense and unpredictable venture), in 2001 when the remaining musicians joined the collective. In 2002 Atach Tatuq released the album ''La guerre des Tuqs'' (''The War of the Tuqs''). The Canadian hip hop scene was established in the 1980s. Through a variety of factors, it developed much slower than Canada's popular rock music scene, and apart from a short-lived burst of mainstream popularity from 1989 to 1991, it remained largely an underground phenomenon until the early 2000s. ''Montreal Mirror'' or just ''Mirror'' was a free English language alternative newsweekly based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada which was distributed every Thursday. It had a circulation of 70,000 and reached a quarter of a million readers per week. First published on June 20, 1985, the publication became a weekly in September 1989. It was bought by media giant Quebecor in 1997. It was published by ''Communications Gratte-Ciel Ltée''. The Félix Award (french: Trophée Félix or Prix Félix) is an award, given by the ''Association du disque, de l'industrie du spectacle québécois'' (ADISQ) on an annual basis to artists working in the music and humor industry in the Canadian province of Quebec.
