In book publishing, an anthology is a collection of literary works chosen by the compiler; it may be a collection of plays, poems, short stories, songs or excerpts by different authors. Image Comics
Image Comics is an American comic book publisher and is the third largest comic book and graphic novel publisher in the industry in both unit and market share. It was founded in 1992 by several high-profile illustrators as a venue for creator-owned properties, in which comics creators could publish material of their own creation without giving up the copyrights to those properties. Normally this isn't the case in the work for hire-dominated American comics industry, where the legal author is a publisher, such as Marvel Comics or DC Comics, and the creator is an employee of that publisher. Its output was originally dominated by superhero and fantasy series from the studios of the founding Image partners, but now includes comics in many genres by numerous independent creators. Rob Liefeld
Robert Liefeld (; born October 3, 1967) is an American comic book creator. A prominent writer and artist in the 1990s, he is known for co-creating the character Cable (comics), Cable with writer Louise Simonson and the character Deadpool with writer Fabian Nicieza. In the early 1990s, Liefeld gained popularity due to his work on Marvel Comics' ''New Mutants, The New Mutants'' and later ''X-Force''. In 1992, he and several other popular Marvel illustrators left the company to found Image Comics, which started a wave of comic books owned by their creators rather than by publishers. The first book published by Image Comics was Liefeld's ''Youngblood (comics), Youngblood'' #1. Awesome Comics or Awesome Entertainment (also known as Awesome-Hyperwerks when briefly joined with Hyperwerks Entertainment) was an American comic book studio formed in 1997 by Rob Liefeld following his expulsion from Image Comics, a company he co-founded five years prior. ''Awesome Comics'' was the successor of Extreme Studios and Maximum Press, Liefeld's imprints at Image, and was followed by his new company Arcade Comics upon its closure in 2000. Netflix was in talks to adapt the characters for a series of films in 2018 but the deal collapsed. ''Tales of the Beanworld'' is an independently published comic book created by Larry Marder. ''Beanworld'' features stories about the life and times of the Beans, minimalistic characters which Marder has been drawing since childhood.Larry Marder, ''Beanworld: Wahoolazuma!'', Dark Horse Comics, February 2009. The stories borrow concepts from various world mythologies, popular concepts of ecology, and pop culture. Publication history The first issue was published in 1985, and the series ran 21 issues until 1993. The first four issues were printed independently (under the imprint The Beanworld Press). Avengelyne h-van'-jah-leenis a fictional Image Universe comic book character created by Rob Liefeld and Cathy Christian. Avengelyne is an angel who fights the forces of evil and often finds herself face-to-face with demons and monsters. Publication history The original character design for Avengelyne was based on the likeness of former ''Vampirella'' model Cathy Christian. Originally published in 1995 by Maximum Press, she was also inspired by Ben Dunn's comic Warrior Nun Areala from Antarctic Press. By the end of the 1990s, Avengelyne had been used in comics by Awesome Entertainment (only one issue published) and Avatar Press. Avengelyne returned to comics in the Arcana Studio one-shot ''Avengelyne vs. Koni Waves'' in February 2010.
