Asthamayam
''Asthamayam'' is a 1978 Indian Malayalam-language film, directed by P. Chandrakumar and produced by Madhu. The film stars Madhu, Jayan, Sharada and Jayabharathi. The film has musical score by Shyam. Plot Balakrishnan and Venu were classmates and close friends at the medical college. Venu is athletic and outgoing while Balan focused on academics. Balakrishnan becomes a busy doctor practicing in the city while Venu joins the military. Venu sends his uncle, Kuruppu, accompanied by daughter Shanthi for treatment to Balakrishnan who accommodates them at home waiting for the results of medical examination. Shanti develops feelings towards Balakrishnan. Kuruppu is diagnosed with stomach tumour requiring surgical removal.Kuruppu and Shanthi leaves after successful treatment. Sarah Thomas (born 15 September 1934) is a Malayalam language writer from Kerala, India. Her novel ''Narmadi Pudava'' won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in the year 1979. Thomas is also a recipient of Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contribution to Malayalam Literature. Career Thomas had started writing long before the concept of feminine literature evolved in Malayalam. She published her first novel ''Jivitamenna Nadi'' at the age of 34. She became noted in the literary field after the publication of the novel ''Murippadukal'' in 1971. The novel narrated the life of a young man brought up in a Roman Catholic orphanage and later transferred to his Hindu ancestral home, where he is subtly persuaded to conform to Hindu religious beliefs. Jayabharathi is an Indian actress. She is a two-time recipient of the Kerala State Film Award for best actress. Jayabharathi's first leading role was given by director P. Thikkurissy Sukumaran Nair (16 October 191611 March 1997) was an Indian poet, playwright, script writer, lyricist, orator, film director and actor, though he is best known as an actor in Malayalam cinema. Madhavan Nair, commonly known by his stage name Madhu, is an Indian actor, director, producer, former college lecturer and former film studio owner, who works in Malayalam cinema and a certain number of Hindi and Tamil films. Sukumari Amma (6 October 1940 – 26 March 2013) was an Indian actress best known for her works in Malayalam and Tamil films. In a career spanning more than five decades, She has appeared in more than 2500 films predominantly in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, along with few Hindi and one each in Sinhala, French, Bengali, Tulu, English and Kannada films.
