Associação de Jovens da Fonte do Bastardo (''Fonte do Bastardo Youth Association'') is an athletic organization, in the civil parish of Fonte do Bastardo in the municipality of Praia da Vitória, island of Terceira in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. Its primary importance is in the professional volleyball; its team competes in Portuguese Men's A1 League, although other teams within the organization (which include Women's and Youth teams) participate in Futsal (indoor football). History The association was founded on 21 October 1975, but was on officialized as of 2 November 1979. For the first 15 years of functioning the organization had its headquarters in the ''Casa do Povo'' of Fonte do Bastardo, until inauguration of its social headquarters on 21 October 2001, while the athletic association participated in national volleyball championships, rising eventually to the Carglass Division Major League. The Portuguese Volleyball First Division (Portuguese: ''Campeonato Nacional de Voleibol – I Divisão'') is the top men's volleyball league in Portugal. The competition, which is organised by the Portuguese Volleyball Federation, was called Honor Division (Divisão de Honra) in 1983–84 and 1986–88. Praia da Vitória (; translating as "Beach of Victory") is a municipality in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. Futsal
Futsal is a football-based game played on a hardcourt, hard court smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and Indoor soccer, indoor football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor soccer, it is played on a hard court surface marked by lines; walls or boards are not used. It is played with a smaller, harder, lower-bounce ball than football. The surface, ball and rules favour ball control and passing in small spaces. The game emphasizes control, improvisation, creativity and technique.
