Associação Atlética Francana, or simply Francana, is a Brazilian football team based in Franca, São Paulo. Founded in 1912, it plays in Campeonato Paulista Segunda Divisão. The club competed in the Série A and in the Série C once. History The club was founded on October 12, 1912. They won the Campeonato Paulista Série A2 in 1977. Francana competed in the Série A in 1979, but were eliminated in the Second Stage. The club reached the final stage of the 1997 Série C, finishing in the third place out of four in that stage. Campeonato Brasileiro Série C
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances. Thus, the tournament is organized in regional groups and the table prevents teams from distant states from playing each other in the initial rounds. Until 2008, any professional team could apply, but only 64 teams would take part in the tournament. The teams that had been relegated from the Série B in the previous year were joined by teams qualified for each federation state. Qualification rules varied, some federations used the state tournaments as qualification tournaments, others organized exclusive qualification tournaments to the Série C. Brazilian Football Confederation
The Brazilian Football Confederation ( pt, Confederação Brasileira de Futebol; CBF) is the governing body of football in Brazil. It was founded on Monday, 8 June 1914, as , and renamed Confederação Brasileira de Desportos in 1916. The football confederation, as known today, separated from other sports associations on 24 September 1979. Between 1914 and 1979 it was the governing body, or at least the international reference, for other olympic sports, such as tennis (until the CBT was founded in 1955), athletics (until the CBAt was founded in 1977), handball (until 1979), swimming and waterpolo. The 1979 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, (officially the V Copa Brasil) was the 23rd edition of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Overview In the First phase, 80 clubs were divided into 8 groups of 10 clubs.in the groups A, B, C, D, E and F, the four first clubs qualified to the Second phase, while in the groups G and H, eight clubs qualified. Franca is a municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
