Assem Salam
Assem Salam (1924 – 5 November 2012); (عاصم سلام) was a Lebanese civil engineer, architect and author. He graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1950. Asem used patterns and shapes from the Islamic tradition in his works. Education Graduated from the University of Cambridge, England, with a degree in Architecture, in 1950. Beirut
Beirut, french: Beyrouth is the capital and largest city of Lebanon. , Greater Beirut has a population of 2.5 million, which makes it the third-largest city in the Levant region. Lebanese People
The Lebanese people ( ar, الشعب اللبناني / ALA-LC: ', ) are the people inhabiting or originating from Lebanon. The term may also include those who had inhabited Mount Lebanon and the Anti-Lebanon Mountains prior to the creation of the modern Lebanese state. The major religious groups among the Lebanese people within Lebanon are Shia Muslims (27%), Sunni Muslims (27%), Maronite Christians (21%), Greek Orthodox Christians (8%), Melkite Christians (5%), Druze (5.2%), Protestant Christians (1%). The largest contingent of Lebanese, however, comprise a diaspora in North America, South America, Europe, Australia and Africa, which is predominantly Maronite Christian. As the relative proportion of the various sects is politically sensitive, Lebanon has not collected official census data on ethnic background since 1932 under the French Mandate. Mardiros Altounian
Mardiros Altounian (1889–1958) was an Armenian-Lebanese architect. He designed the Lebanese Parliament Building in Beirut (1931), the Abed clock tower (1934), Azounieh sanitorum in Chouf, and Melkonian Benefactors' Mausoleum in Cyprus (with French-Armenian sculptor Leon Mouradoff). with aerial photo of Abed clock tower Altounian was French-Armenian. Ammar Khammash
Ammar Khammash (born 8 October 1960) is a Jordanian architect, designer and artist. His work is based on the integration of building designs with nature and the surrounding environment. His projects helped revive Pella and Jordan Valley by creating two rest stops. He has participated in many art exhibits and was tasked to design some of the most prominent buildings in the region. He was given an award for his design of the Nazareth mosque, which was controversial because of its proximity to the Basilica of the Annunciation, Church of the Annunciation.
