Ashwin Joshi
Ashwin Joshi is an Indian politician and member of the Indian National Congress. Joshi was a member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Indore-3 constituency in Indore district. He represented the constituency for three consecutive terms from 1998 to 2013. He is the nephew of veteran Congress leader Mahesh Joshi, who also represented Indore-3 (Vidhan Sabha constituency) from 1980 to 1990. He is well known for his poetic style speeches. Political career He enrolled in politics from student life. He served as president of Holkar Science College for two consecutive years (1980-1981 & 1981-1982). Afterwards, in 1982-1983 he held position of secretary at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. He then held positions at Madhya Pradesh youth Congress and Indore city Congress Committee. 1998 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election
Elections to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly were held in November 1998. The Indian National Congress won a majority of seats and Digvijaya Singh was sworn in as the new Chief Minister for the second time. These were the last elections to the legislative assembly before the passage of the Madhya Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2000, which carved out the new state of Chhattisgarh from Madhya Pradesh. A Legislative Assembly election was held on 25 November 2013 in Madhya Pradesh, India, with the result announced on 8 December. Along with four other state assembly elections, these were the first elections in which the Election Commission of India (ECI) implemented a "None of the above" (NOTA) voting option, allowing the electorate to register a neutral vote but not to outright reject candidates. Devi Ahilya University (informally abbreviated DAVV), formerly Indore University, is a State University. It was named after 'Ahilya Bai Holkar', the 18th century Queen and ruler of Indore, which was part of the Hindu Maratha Empire. Its jurisdiction was initially restricted to Indore city.
