Ashville Football Club is a football club based in Wallasey, England. They are currently members of the and play at Villa Park, Wallasey. History Founded in 1949 by D-Day veteran John Dennett, Ashville initially entered the Wallasey Youth League, joining the Bebington League in 1951. After winning the Bebington League, Ashville joined the Wirral Combination, winning the league all three seasons they competed in it. In 1955, Ashville entered the West Cheshire League, winning Division Two at the first attempt. In the 1990–91 season, Ashville entered the FA Vase for the first time. In 2005–06, Ashville reached the fourth round of the competition, before losing 1–0 away at Buxton. In 2022, the club was admitted into the North West Counties League Division One South. Wallasey () is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, in Merseyside, England; until 1974, it was part of the historic county of Cheshire. The Normandy landings were the landing operations and associated airborne operations on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. Codenamed Operation Neptune and often referred to as D-Day, it was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation began the liberation of France (and later western Europe) and laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front. Planning for the operation began in 1943. West Cheshire Association Football League
The West Cheshire Association Football League (commonly known as the West Cheshire League) is an English football league in the county of Cheshire, which also includes teams from Merseyside. Its current principal sponsor is ''Carlsberg'', also sponsor of the South West Peninsula League. It has a Division One, Division Two and Division Three. Division One sits at step 7 (or level 11) of the National League System. If they have floodlights, the league's clubs are eligible for the FA Vase but not the FA Cup, and its champions are eligible for promotion to the North West Counties Football League Division One. The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. The North West Counties Football League is a football league in the North West of England. Since 2019–20, the league has covered the Isle of Man, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cumbria, northern Staffordshire, northern Shropshire, the far west of West Yorkshire, and the High Peak area of Derbyshire.
