Ashraf Siddiqui
Ashraf Siddiqui (1 March 1927 – 19 March 2020) was a Bangladeshi poet, researcher, folklorist, and essayist. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1964 and Ekushey Padak in 1988 by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life and education Siddiqui was born in Nagbari village of Tangail. Siddiqui completed his master's from the University of Dhaka in Bengali literature. He earned his Ph.D. in folklore studies from the Indiana University. Career Siddiqui served as a faculty member at Rajshahi College, Chittagong College, Ananda Mohan College, Dhaka College, Jagannath College and the University of Dhaka. He served as the director of ''Kendrio Bangla Unnoyon Board'', chief editor of ''District Gazetteer'' and director general of Bangla Academy during 1976–1982. Bangla Academy
The Bangla Academy ( bn, বাংলা একাডেমি, ) is an autonomous institution funded by the Bangladesh government to foster the Bengali language, literature and culture, to develop and implement national language policy and to do original research in the Bengali language. Established in 1955, it is located in Burdwan House in Ramna, Dhaka, within the grounds of the University of Dhaka and Suhrawardy Udyan. The Bangla Academy hosts the annual Ekushey Book Fair. Dhaka College ( bn, ঢাকা কলেজ also known as DC) is the oldest secular educational institution of Bangladesh located in Dhaka. It offers higher secondary education ( HSC). It has Honours and Masters programs as well which are affiliated to the University of Dhaka. History Dhaka College is one of Bangladesh's most important as well as earliest higher-secondary educational institutions. It was established by James Taylor Wise (civil surgeon at Dhaka) in 1835 as an English Seminary School (present Dhaka Collegiate School). Mr. Wise organized a local Committee of Public Instruction with the help of district magistrate Mr. Grant. Nazrul Institute
The Nazrul Institute is Bangladesh's national institute, established in February 1985. Its headquarters are located in Kabi Bhaban in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It fulfills a number of roles; promoting the literary work of the poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, recognising excellence in literature research by conferring awards, and public engagement. Structure and governance The institute is headed by an executive director who has a trustee board to advise them. Nazrul Academy is an academic research institution devoted to the study of the national poet of Bangladesh, Kazi Nazrul Islam, and his works including Nazrul Geeti.
