Asan () is a city in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. It borders the Seoul Capital Area to the north. Asan has a population of approximately 300,000. Asan is known for its many hot springs and is a city of spas. Asan has grown into the neighboring village, Onyang-dong, which is also known for its hot springs. Climate Transportation The city of Asan shares a station for the KTX high speed trains with the directly adjacent city of Cheonan, which is thusly named Cheonan-Asan Station. It takes about 30 minutes to travel from Asan to Seoul by the KTX train. It can be reached within 2 hours from Incheon International Airport by car. Seoul Metropolitan Subway extended one of its lines to service Asan on 15 December 2008. Two major highways, the Seoul-Busan and West Coast expressways, also pass through Asan city. Onyang-dong
Onyang-dong, actually a series of six ''dong'', is the central and most populous part of the city of Asan in Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. It is here that Asan City Hall is located. Geography Onyang-dong lies in the centre of Asan, 10 km south-west of Cheonan. It is bordered by Yeomchi-eup to the north, Sinchang-myeon to the west, Baebang-myeon to the south-east and Tangjeong-myeon to the north-east. Onyang-dong's northern border is the Gokgyo-cheon, a stream which flows west to join the Samgyo-cheon before emptying into Asan Bay, while Sinjeong-ho, a small reservoir, lies to the south-west. Demographics 50.2% of the population are male and 49.8% female, with only 0.75% of the population being foreign. There are 35086 registered residences, making the average household consist of 2.7 people and the population density is 2094 people per square kilometre, the total area of the six ''dong'' being 44.6 km2. Asan Information And Technology Polytechnic College
Asan Information & Technology Polytechnic College is located in Sinchang-myeon, Asan city, South Chungcheong province, not far from Soonchunhyang University. The current president of the college is Hyun-Suk Jung. Apart from the Department of Information & Communication Systems, the school's other departments are concerned with various aspects of digital design: the school includes departments of multimedia, computer animation, visual communication design, and visual media. The South Korean Ministry of Labor began laying plans for the college in 1996, and construction on the campus was underway by 1999. The first class of students was admitted on March 2, 2002.
