Artur Warzocha
Artur Ryszard Warzocha (born 11 November 1969, in Piotrków Trybunalski) is a Polish politician, local official, first deputy voivode of Silesia (2006–2007), Senator of the Senate of the Republic of Poland since 2015. Biography He graduated from the Faculty of Pedagogy of the Pedagogical University in Częstochowa, and completed post-graduate studies at the Warsaw School of Economics. He became an academic teacher at the Institute of Political Sciences of the Jan Długosz University. In 1998 and in 2002 he was elected to a Częstochowa City Council. In 2009, without success, he ran for the European Parliament. In 2010, he was elected a councilor of the Silesian Regional Assembly of the 4th term. He joined Law and Justice. In 2011, he applied unsuccessfully for the Senate's mandate. Polish Senate
The Senate ( pl, Senat) is the upper house of the Polish parliament, the lower house being the Sejm. The history of the Polish Senate stretches back over 500 years; it was one of the first constituent bodies of a bicameral parliament in Europe and existed without hiatus until the final partition of the Polish state in 1795. The contemporary Senate is composed of 100 senators elected by a universal ballot and is headed by Marshal of the Senate (''Marszałek Senatu''). The incumbent Marshal of the Senate is Tomasz Grodzki. Following a brief period of existence under the Second Polish Republic, the Senate was again abolished by the authorities of the Polish People's Republic. It was not re-established until the collapse of the communist government and reinstatement of democracy in Poland in 1989. 2015 Polish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections to both the Sejm and Senate were held in Poland on 25 October 2015 for the eighth term of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, which ran from 12 November 2015 until 2019. The election was won by the largest opposition party, the right-wing Law and Justice (PiS), with 37.6% of the vote against the governing Civic Platform (PO), which achieved 24.1%. Official results, announced on 27 October, gave Law and Justice 235 of 460 seats (51 percent), a majority of four. Częstochowa
Częstochowa ( , ; german: Tschenstochau, Czenstochau; la, Czanstochova) is a city in southern Poland on the Warta River with 214,342 inhabitants, making it the thirteenth-largest city in Poland. Silesian Regional Assembly
The Silesian Voivodeship Sejmik ( pl, Sejmik Województwa Śląskiego) is the regional legislature of the Voivodeship of Silesia in Poland. It is a unicameral parliamentary body consisting of forty-five councillors elected for a five-year term. The current chairperson of the assembly is Marek Gzik of PO. The assembly elects the executive board that acts as the collective executive for the regional government, headed by the voivodeship marshal. After the 2018 election, the Executive Board of Silesia was formed by Law and Justice and Wojciech Kałuża, independent councilor elected from the KO. But on November 21, 2022, four PiS councillors, including the incumbent Marshal, left the party and joined the opposition, giving them a majority. Jan Długosz University
The Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa Uniwersytet Humanistyczno-Przyrodniczy im. Jana Długoszais a public university located in Częstochowa, in the Silesian Voivodeship of Poland. Founded in 1971 as a teacher training college, it was transformed into a higher teacher education school in 1974 with two faculties, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and the Faculty of Pedagogy.
