ArtInsights Animation and Film Art Gallery is an Art Gallery specializing in animation and film art. Previously located in the Reston Town Center in Reston, Virginia, the gallery migrated to an online-only business model in October, 2023. The gallery represents original production artwork (such as animation cels) and limited edition pieces, as well as film and illustrative art (e.g. giclées ). Themed exhibits were arranged regularly in the physical gallery space, and continue online through newsletters. The physical gallery was host to many film and animation related exhibitions and their website continues to exclusively host official production and concept artwork from specific artists in the industry. In addition to in-gallery activities, Artinsights consistently contributes to efforts and projects related to the conservation and promotion of film artwork. John Alvin
John Henry Alvin (November 24, 1948 – February 6, 2008) was an American cinematic artist and painter who illustrated many movie posters. Alvin created posters and key art for more than 135 films, beginning with the poster for Mel Brooks' ''Blazing Saddles'' (1974). His style of art became known as ''Alvinesque'' by friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry. Art Gallery
An art gallery is a room or a building in which visual art is displayed. In Western cultures from the mid-15th century, a gallery was any long, narrow covered passage along a wall, first used in the sense of a place for art in the 1590s. The long gallery in Elizabethan and Jacobean houses served many purposes including the display of art. Historically, art is displayed as evidence of status and wealth, and for religious art as objects of ritual or the depiction of narratives. The first galleries were in the palaces of the aristocracy, or in churches. As art collections grew, buildings became dedicated to art, becoming the first art museums. Among the modern reasons art may be displayed are aesthetic enjoyment, education, historic preservation, or for marketing purposes. Jim Salvati
Jim Salvati (born 1957) is an American painter of contemporary figurative fine art. Salvati works in the film industry as a visual concept designer and cinematic artist. He is also in a select group of painters for Disney Fine Art. His clients include Disney, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, 20th Century Studios, Radio City Music Hall, Arena Stage, the Ahmanson Theater, and Verve Records. He won the Washington Post award of excellence for his work with the Kennedy Center Honorees. Salvati is also responsible for many of the finished paintings in the "Harry Potter" film series. Mary Costa (born April 5, 1930) is an American retired actress and singer. Her most notable film credit is providing the voice of Princess Aurora in the 1959 Disney animated film ''Sleeping Beauty'', of which she is the last surviving original voice actress of the first three Disney Princesses created in Walt Disney's lifetime and for which she was named a Disney Legend in 1999.
