Arsis is an American heavy metal band from Virginia Beach, Virginia, formed in 2000. The band is currently signed to Nuclear Blast. History Demos and Willowtip era (2000–2006) Arsis was started by James Malone and Michael "Mike" Van Dyne in 2000, who met while attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston. The name ''Arsis'' comes from the musical term ''arsis and thesis'' meaning up and down beats. They recorded two demos independently in 2001 and 2002, which were later officially released by Negative-Existence Records in 2007. Arsis signed to Willowtip Records in 2003 and released their highly acclaimed debut album, '' A Celebration of Guilt'', in 2004, which later ranked #50 on Decibel Magazine's "Top 100 Death Metal Albums of All Time" list. This was followed by the release of ''A Diamond for Disease'' in 2005, and ''United in Regret'' in 2006. Six Feet Under is an American death metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1993. The band consists of five members: founding vocalist Chris Barnes, guitarists Ray Suhy and Jack Owen, bassist Jeff Hughell and drummer Marco Pitruzzella. It was originally a side project formed by Barnes with guitarist Allen West of Obituary, but became a full-time commitment after Barnes was dismissed from Cannibal Corpse in 1995. Dead To Fall
Dead to Fall is an American metalcore band from Gurnee, Illinois. Formed in 1999, it drew influences from Gothenburg metal, death metal, and other genres. Their first two albums reached combined sales of 60,000 copies in the US alone. Dead to Fall broke up on April 6, 2008 due to financial and personal problems. In 2015, The band did a small reunion tour with the remaining previous members of the band. The tour was supporting Darkest Hour for the tenth anniversary of their album ''Undoing Ruin''. Ion Dissonance
Ion Dissonance is a Canadian mathcore band from Montreal, Quebec. They are known for their technical style, which switched to a more groove based style with the release of their 2007 album ''Minus the Herd''. In total, the group have released five full-length albums and are well known in the Montreal music scene. History Antoine Lussier and Sebastien Chaput formed Ion Dissonance during the late summer of 2001 with the intention of creating a fusion of hardcore and metal that was more complex and daring than what they have done before. Animosity was an American death metal band from San Francisco, California, formed in 2000. The band released three studio albums, toured in the United States and Europe, and disbanded in 2009. Neuraxis is a Canadian technical death metal band formed in Montreal in 1994 by Steven Henry, Yan Thiel, Michel Brisebois and Felipe Ángel Quinzanos. Necrophagist
Necrophagist was a German technical death metal band founded and fronted by guitarist and vocalist Muhammed Suiçmez. The band used baroque music-influenced compositions paired with extreme metal drumming. The name originates from the Greek roots νεκρο- ''nekro-'' ("dead body") and -φαγος ''-'' ("eater of"). This figuratively translates to ''eater of the dead''; literally the ''eater of dead bodies''. History 1999–2004: ''Onset of Putrefaction'' and ''Epitaph'' Necrophagist's debut album ''Onset of Putrefaction'' has been out of print for years. The Chasm is a death metal band originally from Mexico City, and currently residing in Chicago. They have been described as one of Mexico's most respected metal bands.
